    Spec Stage3

Very streetable but holds tons of horse. I've been daily driving one for a while now.

I'm running a Mcleod twin disk and love it. A little on the pricey side though.

i have a spec 3 as well....and it holds pretty well...and doesn't chatter all that much. and i dailey drive my car. but i had a shit load of problems with it when i first got it (wasn't balanced and the flywheel wasn't machined FLAT to begin with) so i got really good at taking my trans in and out.... as well as when i sent it back to spec for warranty work they took a DA to the flywheel and said it was fine, and they never balanced it...so after i got it back a month later, i had to pay $130 to get it balanced at a machine shop and machined FLAT!!!

basically i wouldn't give spec any of my money ever again, and i do not promote their product as they did a good job in trying to shaft me.... go with anything but SPEC!!!

i have a spec 3 as well, and i havent been happy with it yet, but lately i think its finally starting to break in after about 2000 miles. (it was quite chattery) it definitely grabs... i need to get a new tranny mount, cause when i bang the gears at WOT the shifter comes launching over in the console from the trans torqing around

hows the chatter on yours, just out of curiousity?

Im guessing i have almost 2k on mine, and ive kinda been flogging it a little bit lately hoping itll smooth out some... so far so good.

I agree that the spec 3 is very streetable, but dont be surprised if youre chirping the tires when taking off on ocasion. this is because the clutch has a tendency to progressively engage harder on its own, without you releasing pressure from the pedal. at least this is how mine acts sometimes

i have about 5,000 miles on mine now and it still chatter's on takeoff's. sometimes really bad, other times not so bad. reverse is really bad though for some reason?

a friend of mine had a spec 2 in his formula and he said after the break in period...he did one good burnout and it was great after that

really, reverse isnt that bad at all for me. ive dumped it about 4 times in the past 2 or 3 days, and it was acting better after that. i just dont want to be doing that too much, the old 10 bolt might get moody on me.

well guys...let me tell you a story about my SPEC clutch experience. i had a SPEC stage 2+ in my car for all of last year. well early this year i noticed it was slipping really bad and i was kinda angry cuz i only had it in for like 5000 miles. so i took the trans out and started ripping it apart and found that somehow one of the slave cylinder bolts had come out and been bounced around the bell housing and got shot all the way through the case. so i rectified everything and put in a brand new stage 4 SPEC clutch kit. and matt the best thing to do when upgrading your clutch is to get a new flywheel all together. i went with SPECS lightweight aluminum and its still and brand new condition when i took it out. that would have avoided your problem all together. so its a good idea to replace the flywheel. as for the stage 4 it is very chattery and doesnt allow for much slipping. its a little challenging to get moving from a dead stop. you do get used to it though. but as for shifting on the move it is incredible. its a very quick engaging clutch and if you push it hard enough it will start breaking shit in your driveline. but if you want reassurance of not losing any speed or power when shifting its great. thats all

so your saying a turned stock flywheel doesnt cut it, i shouldve bought a new flywheel?

well if you are trying to build power and all that stuff, why not get a lighter flywheel and cut down on some of the rotating mass anyways? not to mention start with a fresh clean surface. its worth the cost in the end for sure.
