Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!

Cool, so does the pricing still apply for doing some LED's on his power wheels? Or will this be custom pricing .. Mainly I would want tail lights,head lights, and maybe a strip in the front to simulate police lights.
I'll let my secretary... errr.... ASSISTANT handle the pricing issues and such. It won't be much for the taillights and headlights. The flashing lights are a bit more difficult, it will require a separate circuit, just a timer really, for the flashing.

Rolo, pricing is going to depend on what boards and components are used, time spent working on design/manufacture of everything, and whether we install or just send everything to you. It would probably be easier for you to bring the whole car to us for install, but if you feel comfortable installing everything, we can work that out as well.
I'll get with Mike tomorrow to discuss what is involved in a project like this. Keep in mind, though, that the boards we supply are bare, there is no protection from the elements incorporated into the boards, and we do not have the equipment to build weatherproof housings for everything. As long as you ask Antonio to keep it in the garage when it's raining out, he should be fine.

Not a problem. Mike and I will be in the lab tomorrow afternoon, I'm sure we can draw up a quick design for Antonio. I'll generate a written estimate for him too, don't know if you're impressing upon him quite yet the importance of maintaining receipts for his car. I should be able to get back with you in the next couple of days with plans and pricing.

Actually, thats not entirely true. I can conformal coat any boards we use, which would make it fairly waterproof. Question: Do you want the headlights to just light up, or light up bright enough to be actually functional? We could also do some nice underbody glow lights for him. Without the police lights, I'm thinking 4 Dragons for the headlights, 6-8 APT's for the taillights, another 6-8 for the marker lights, 2 rocker switches (one for the lights, one for the high beams) and probably a dozen for the under glow if you want it. Plus a third switch for that. Sounds like fun!
What would it take to make them functional? I would be fine with them just to light up.

Would it be a good idea for me to purchase another 12v battery? Like a lawn and tractor one. Or a smaller one?
Well, the drain from the lights will be pretty negligible. I could set them up to run off of a 9 volt battery. It won't take much to make them functional, you just won't want to let him stare directly into them, they will be BRIGHT. I can set them up with a "low beam" that will light up with the tail lights and marker lights, then a second pair that light up when you turn on the "high beams" that will throw enough light out to make it functional. The tricky part will be how well they shine through the optics of the existing headlight, how "functional" they are will depend on how well I can aim them while using the existing structure.
Hopefully, that all makes sense.
Everyone who expressed interest in having work done by Mike and I, expect to see a PM in the next several days. We met yesterday to discuss all of the suggestions that were given, and we have a pretty good idea of what most of you want, but I will need to clarify things with you all just to make sure we aren't spinning our wheels.
That said, another interesting topic came up during our meeting, and I wanted to mention our decision here.
There have been a couple requests for items to be made with logos (Z28, Trans Am, etc.), and illuminated by LED's. We discussed the legality of doing something like this, and the truth is, it's not legal for us to use intellectual property that is under copyright by another company or individual, without the express written consent of said company or individual. Thus, we are unable to make anything that contains any GM-licensed logos or designs in any of our products. We CAN, however, add lighting to any existing licensed products you may have, but this will be done on a case-by-case basis.
In addition, we have received a number of requests for exterior lighting, which I believe I have mentioned before. This is going to be rather blunt, but the subtle responses I have posted before, and even the not-so-subtle ones, don't seem to be having any effect. We will NOT create ANY products that are to be used on the exterior of ANY automobile. None. At all. No taillights, headlights, underbody accent lighting, backlit tail panels, corner lights, anything. There is far too much legal liability in doing so, and Mike and I are not interested in the least in absorbing said liability. I'm sorry, but there is nothing we can do, and rather than picking and choosing what may or may not be legal, or contacting an attorney to have a waiver form created, is simply not worth the hassle.
That said, we are able, and willing, to create custom LED solutions for many different projects, and they don't necessarily have to be automotive related. If you have anything you'd like to see created, contact me directly via PM, and we will gladly discuss it with you.

Another quick update, I just wanted to keep you all informed.
We would love it if we were able to complete these projects on a first-come, first-served basis, but the fact is, some projects are going to require more R&D time than others, and it wouldn't be fair for us to put off a project that will take all of 5 minutes because someone else asked for a month-long project an hour before.
This has led us to prioritize the project requests we have already received based on the amount of time required to complete.
In an effort to keep everyone informed, I want to update you on the current status of some of our projects.
We are in contact with several companies in an effort to find a suitable replacement for the gauge, HVAC, and headlight switch overlays for Firebirds. The overlays have a red coating on the back to alter the color of the backlighting, and it's extremely difficult to remove just the red, without damaging the white or black coatings. It's going to be easier to simply come to an agreement with a print shop that is capable of combining translucent and opaque coatings onto a usable medium, and order the replacement overlays on an as-needed basis. As soon as the overlay problem is solved, we will be able to offer some more advanced options, and we'll have a working prototype up and running.
As for interior lighting, I brought home the functional prototype LED dome light housing yesterday, and I'll have it installed by the end of the day Monday. We should have a working prototype of the map lights within the week, and footwell lights will be undergoing testing around the same time. We should be able to sell complete interior lighting kits (dome, map, and footwell lighting) within 2 weeks, if all goes according to plan. We are working out the logistics right now.
Once the major light components are replaced, I'll be examining the secondary lighting (center console, glove compartment, door panels, hood lighting, and some accent lighting) and running over the options with Mike. I would estimate mid-March before we have the full kit complete and ready to go, although this is all highly dependent on our schedules.
More updates to come, keep the suggestions coming guys, we really do want to make sure you are all able to walk away happy.
I have sent several PM's in the last couple of hours, I'm going to take a break, and I'll get the rest sent out before 8am. We are finishing up some minor tweaks to the dome light and map light replacements that are currently in my Formula, and I hope to have a finished product ready to go soon.
These components will be the first we sell, since we have had a chance to develop, build, and test them. How well these sell will be the determining factor in whether we decide to pursue this as a business venture or not, so if you are interested in replacing your dome/map lights with LED's, it would be best for you to act now. Prices are low, the products are very high quality, and honestly, if you have any issues, we are going to take care of you. Mike and I have been active members of MIFBody for years, and we look at you all as family. We aren't trying to make a fortune, we just want to offer up a product that many of you can appreciate, as a way of giving back to the F-Body community (specifically THIS F-Body community).

If these are the same size "bulb" as the quarter panel courtesy lights in my vert, I'll sign up for two of them. I think they are 561 festoon bulbs just like the trunk -- in which case, I'd buy three!
