I'm mixed on it. I really like where I work in many regards. We're in a time of change right now - new CIO just started last year around Thanksgiving. He's bringing morale up... we got a full size refrigerator in our printer room and he pays to keep it stocked full of water, juice, pop, and Red Bulls.... He's bought all of us lunch a bunch of times... If he goes to the bar after work with us, he usually pays. My only real complaint is that I don't feel like I'm where I should be in the salary range - but the only way to get a good raise is to find another job. I'm trying to ride it out where I'm at because he says he's willing to give us whatever training we need, and the benefits at this company is absolutely great.

Joel don't out think yourself. Read the job description not the requirements, if you think the job fits you or you like it, apply. I think statistics say it takes 20-25 apps to get an interview, don't exactly remember what Michigan Works was saying, but it was a lot of app's and my point is do the basic's, apply, always write a cover letter, and after interview always send thank you letter, then a follow up 4-5 days later. Thats what gets HR peples attention and makes you stand out. Your a smart guy and have a lot of talent, hang in there. Even if the job is entry level below what you want take it get in the door. The IT field has always been a change field. When I was in it, I hired 2-3 tech's a year to stay even not allowing for growth.

...it's just finding a position that doesn't require 5+ years of experience, doesn't have a "Sr" title attached to it, etc that's hard to find.

The "Senior" title might not mean as much as you think at certain companies. I'm a "Senior" according to my title, and I have been there for under two years. Two other guys that started with me in my department, became "Seniors" the same time I did. Keep looking while you have a job and hope for the best! Something will turn up.

I am in the same position. Problem is, I have a lot of fun most of the time. At the very least I am getting great experience for my next stepping stone.

Yeh, I'll finally have my degree in a few months. I tested out of the 2nd to last credit I needed for graduation yesterday (Intro to Windows -- the test was so easy it actually was hurting my brain while I was taking the test), now I just have to wait for them to process a petition for credit packet I submitted to use the past 5 years as credit for Internship/Coop, then I'll be grajimitating on June 11th with Darren.
