Yeah just let me know when I can swing by and look at it. I'll bring my gear home tomorrow.

Cotton wood doesn't really damage a chain or bars. They are a soft wood. Dead ash will tear a saw up.

Yes for sure ash is one of the worst tree out there. But sure does make for easy money.

Need to get into the big money hard maple. Money to be made with that shit.

In general, how much does it cost to get a good sized tree cut down? I have a big ugly tree that drops these brown pea pods all over my lawn that I'd love to cut down. It seems mostly dead as the branches break pretty easily but yet every year it still has a bunch of little fern-sized leaves all over it. I've tried googling to find out what it is and I see locusts have pea pods but this tree has no thorns.

              Congrats TJ !

B--I was quoted 8400.00-9600.00 to remove 3 trees from my yard...one being about 175" tall the other maybe 150" tall the other is a small one around 25" ft tall.... thats a lot of coin, so I figured I would let mother nature bring them down and maybe I'll get a full remodel on my house cause the two biggest ones hang over the house.

ok first I dont think we can cut the trees since they are on the citys property, how about trimming the trees? There is one in the front of the bedrooms and it is almost touching the house I would like to trim back and there are a couple other trees.

Realize though, that is taking down some of the tallest trees in Michigan. I bet 95% of that is taking down those first two trees.

like you wife said that it is on the cities side of the sidewalk, Im sure you can trim it or at least what hangs over on your property. however a simple phone call to the city office should answer your question on cutting it down or trimming it back a bit

First depends on your city. Clinton Township will not cut down their trees or trim them they say its the home owners job. Other cities you have to pull permits to do it, other cites have their contractor and only their contractor do it.

I highly doubt you have a 175ft tree to be removed. Not calling you a liar but I think your height is off. The tallest tree in Michigan is 179ft tall in St Clair county.

Prices depend on things such as size of tree, difficulty of the tree, risk of damage, clean up included. Roughly you figure for taking a tree down you charge roughly 100 an hour. So if it takes 4 hours to remove the tree around 400 bucks. Then if you want it cleaned up it cost even more.

The tree you are showing Brian if I didn't have to get someone to come chip it up it'd be like a 200, because you can just notch it right into the street and strip the limbs off it.

A lot of guys like say you want a tree thats 130ft and 90ft and a 25ft tree, usually you pay for the two big ones and you get the other one basically for free.

People think why does it cost so much to have trees cut down, I could do it myself. Well its not easy, its hard work, and things can go wrong very quickly.

Here is a video of my buddy/boss removing a Box Elder.

Here is a video of him using his Dads boom truck to remove Ash tree.

oh I know its hard work, but come one almost 10 grand for 3 trees ? Yea the exact height I wouldnt know I was only going by the 3 companies I had come give me estimates...the price tag is why I still havent done it lol. Ill still get you some pics though.

What kind of trees are they?

Are they over a house or anything?

I know it's on city property, I was going to have it cut down no matter what and if the city gets pissed oh well $50 fine... I'll probably call them sometime soon and ask what their opinion is. There's that tree in the pic and then one next to my driveway that has a 40* angle that I'd like to cut down before it falls on the neighbor's car.
