  • FS: 5.3l

Non running and currently torn apart.

I got this motor just about a year ago with intentions of doing a build. I've decided against it as I've already put 2 grand into another motor.

I don't know anything about this motor. I believe its an 01. Has a 24 tooth reluctor wheel on the crank. Crank needs to be turned and polished.

    What's included:
Block, rods/pistons, front and rear covers, aluminum heads with stock valve springs and a bag of bolts for it.

    Does not include:
Oil pan, intake, valve covers, accessory drive or any electrical components.

I don't have any pics of it, but I'm sure we all know what a bare block looks like.

I'll start the price at $200. I can deliver within a reasonable distance. I'm located in Waterford at M-59 and telegraph.

If your interested, send me a PM and I'll send contact info.

    Thanks, Toney.

FYI...you should never lay a crank down on its side, stand it on end or hang it, however you shouldnt have a hard time getting 2 bills for it

Was planning to get a new crank, which is why its in that condition.

                Bump.

I'm sure $200 is a steal. The motor is super clean!

I hear ya. One thing after another keeps getting in the garage. Got a pair of tires last night and of all places they end where there is no room...the garage! If you change your mind, let me know!

                            Re: FS: 5.3l

I'll vouch for the motor. I did the teardown and hot tank on the block rods and pistons before Toney got it from me. Crank can be used as is, there was a little bearing material on one of the journals that polished out. A 10/10 grind would be insurance, but not really needed.

I got the motor as a running takeout from CARS. It was pulled due to a knock, Sean pet me pull the caps and check the bottom end and we found nothing wrong with the bearings aside from a little bearing material on the journal. I found a bad lifter when I tore the motor down for hot tank. It's likely the bearing started to lose oil film when lifter went bad (typical oil feeds to the crank from the lifter feeds, kill a lifter and the nearby main loses some oil pressure).
Lifter bores are fine, the cup inside the lifter went bad.
I sold the motor after I got rid of my LS Swapped 94 z71, this motor was supposed to upgrade the 4.8 in the truck.
