Well I have allot of stuff to do on the weekend, so I might have to rain check the exhaust depending on how long you guys think it'll take, but I'm good for a steering shaft. I'll give ya a call darren after work tomorrow

Re: 3rd Generation steering shaft upgrade!

Thanks for the shaft work guys, you sure are shaft experts! That new shaft you guys put in really made a difference.

I'll say though, the road noise isnt really noticeable more so the road crown is WAY more noticeable.

        P.S. I'm not dead.

Glad you like it! Thanks for the ride in the car I agree you can tell a big noticeable difference in the wheel. I didnt even notice any road noise but I wasnt "looking" for it either. Maybe on the expressway?

I have another one going out to Canada this week and still another one on the shelf ready to go! Jon and I are going to have more prepped and ready soon as well. I'm telling ya 3rd gen guys this is something you want!

Boy I'm glad I went and got the shaft put in when I did, because now that there's salt down on the road again, the 'bird is garaged for a while once again. Hooray for driving my Firebird in January

Free bump + you 3rd gen guys out there really need this mod!

Does the offer still stand for you to install them? Because you should totally invest in an air chisel. I'm sure I've mentioned this before

Also, it's quite the deal - having Darren and Jon putting the shaft on. I mean, call me lazy, but it was pretty fun to watch burn their hands on my headers

air chisel may be a bad idea, splines could get ruined and i beleive if you yank on the steering column too hard you can but some pretty important plastics inside it.

the way hes talking about a air chisel it wouldnt be a big deal at all, its hard to explain but we could have used one on his car,

Well yeah an air chisel can damage just about anything. Heck, I've cut a 3" pipe in half with my snapon air chisel, just for kicks. Consider an air chisel like a light saber. In my particular situation, an air chisel with a blunt pointed tip would have been ideal to separate the steering shaft from my steering column.

Regardless, the job got done, I'm not dead from my shaft coming apart, and life is good. Now once all this darn snow goes away, I'll get the car out and REALLY test out that steering shaft

But it's going to drive right? Last time I seen your car, the engine was tentative and not even in the car. I'd love to autocross my firebird, but it needs allot of work to be ready for that kind of thing. new floorpans, paint, new engine, rear end, SFCs, tubular everything.

But for now, I just want a good looking stockish cruser. A spirited cruser, but still a cruser.
