  • i think i need a waterpump

small puddle under my car yesterday morning. actually saw it dripping. after moving the car and it running for a while it quit and hasnt dripped again. it did this to me a couple years ago also and then quit and never did it again til yesterday. would have been nice to change while the engine was out but oh well. anyone have a good one or know where to get a good price on one?

If it's just going out slowly on you (usually that's how water pumps go -- they just do some weeping first, then it gets worse), you would have time to order a new one or a rebuilt one from Rock Auto. Their prices usually beat everyone. I may have a discount number you could use for them too. PM me if you want me to look for it.

your car being a 98 has a rebuildable waterpump, only year that had it and they seem to be desirable.

You just put your car back together right? Every time ive had my pump off it always leaks the first few times I run it, re tq the pump down and see if it continues to leak.

seems like its dripping from inside the pulley, not on the outsides where the gaskets are, but ill try again tomorrow to retorque them

Ah, if thats the case, doesnt sound particularly good. I could never really tell where mine leaked from, I just know that every time mine comes off, its always a few heat cycles before I dont see a drip here or there.

thats very strange spencer mine has never leaked, I'm not too sure where to buy a rebuild kit or even how easy it is as I sold my old pump a couple years ago
