My father did the install at the end of Oct/November. He's been a diesel mech for almost 40 years and has rebuilt many rear ends and has the proper tools to do the job.
The backlash Is set at 8 thousands and it has no whines Steve @ vector should be able to vouch for this because he drove my car after the install when he tuned it.
I have Nitto's on the car but the only time the car was driven with the new 4.10 gears was to get it dyno tuned in November by Steve not to mention it was around 40 degrees outside so the Nitto's where not very sticky.

well im interested, theres been some stirred interest in my nitrous kit so im hoping if that sells soon i can pick this up. but idk if i could let my 10bolt with the stock 3.42s go with $350 for your rear end. i think i could recoupe some of my money selling it else where being that auto guys usually like the step up in gear on there DD 4th gens.

If I had the money right now (for the 4.10 or 3.42), I'd buy it for my V6. Any limited slip diff would be better than my open diff right now......maybe in a couple weeks if my gf lets me lol.
Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere.

For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day, you shall have a track day, a Sabbath of competing, to time the FIREBIRD; whoever does any work on it shall be put in last place.

do you have a 5speed or auto? idk how well the v6 would take to a 4.10 gear ratio. it might not like it all that much. but im not 100%

It is now a 5 speed. 4.10 would be quicker for acceleration right?.....would be good for autox. But I'll take your word for it. 3.08 to 4.10 might be a big leap lol.

why wouldnt it like the 410's? easier to turn, just be running at a higher rpm down the highway. i'll be selling my 342 rear end if i can come up with cash for this.

i dont know exactly, ya youll def have a big acceleration difference. but i know that say for a 305 5speed third gen a 4.10 gear is way to steep. ive never heard of anyone trying to put them in a v6 4th gen im just saying maybe you should try to dig up some info or ask someone who is more knowledgable then i i bet you give it a few hours when everyone is back and and this will be answered.

Well I would be more then willing to let you remove the posi and 3.42 gears you could prob get 100-150 for them easy. I need a f-body 10 bolt housing and the axles though otherwise Im gonna end up just parting this out and keeping my housing and axles.

Same deal for you all I need is the axles and housing for a 10 bolt so if you wanted to remove you posi and 3.42 gears to sell that would be fine with me.

Yea, 3.08 is nice for a highway gear, the 4.10 would be for strip or auto X
