Yeah I know he is a bit over the top...I mean he uses a fan to blow back his hair when he's on stage!

    Used to own a Firebird.

Hey, nothing wrong with that man! Versatility is a good thing! I love Nuno Bettencourt, Paul Gilbert, and John Petrucci, but I also like Peter Frampton, Neal Schon (from Journey,) Joe Walsh, SRV, Brian Setzer, ect.

There's soo many greats!! Frampton was my first concert in 1976 at the Ponitac Silverdome.. Seen Schon live 2 years ago with the revamped journey, found him very boring... He can jam, no doubt, but it was boring as hell..

Really?? Well sometimes he overplays when he performs live. But his solos on the records are so tasteful. The solos are songs themselves, you can sing them. I saw Frampton too, opening for Journey matter of fact!

There's many good guitarists listed here, but I'm really glad Larry mentioned Rik Emmett (from Triumph). He's amazing and can play anything, any style you can mention, rock, metal, blues, classical, etc. An amazing player.

Joe Bonamassa is an amazing blues player as well.

Anyone here ever listen to the Hellecasters? John Jorgensen, Will Ray and Jerry Donohue.

Wow, that was beautiful! I love classical guitar playing. I'm glad you shared that, I'll have to check him out. I have actually been working on a Bach piece lately on my classical guitar.

You mentioned Joe Bonamassa, and he is a phenomenal blues player - jaw dropping!!!

Have you guys heard of Steve Stevens? He played with Billy Idol, and he's also the guy who played the theme song from Top Gun. Here's a clip of his flamenco stuff:

That was a nice clip, Chris. He's been around a long time. Very nice.

There's a ton of great guitar players out there. Another one of my very favorite ones is Gary Moore.
He's a tone master. This video is a little long, but well worth the time to watch the whole thing. He's playing a '59 Les Paul that was given to him by Peter Green, the original guitar player from the first version of Fleetwood Mac.

Gary Moore is definitely a badass. He really makes the guitar sing, and unbelievable sustain. He rips too! He inspired other greats, like Jon Sykes.

It makes me happy to see people around here who appreciate great music! I lived in NY for a couple years - horrible mistake. Detroit rock city is where it's at.

                              Chris,

If you want to explore some more obscure great guitar players, go to youtube and look at some videos by Adrian Legg and some by Loe Kottke. They take acoustic guitar to whole other level.

                              Larry,

That's a great Triumph clip. That's why I admire Rik Emmett so much, from shredding to classical, to blues and jazz, he can play ANY style equally well. He's a very unappreciated player here in the States.

I just checked out some of Adrian Legg, and it was incredible! I think one of my guitar teachers in the past showed the class some of his work. I have a Leo Kottke CD, and that guy is a monster. Steve Stevens was influenced by him - if you listen to the intro of "Rebel Yell" by Billy Idol, he got that lick from Kottke.

                                This guy is fantastic too:
