The length is not te issue although I'm not positive. 44.5" long is comin to me for some reason. But more or less it's the u joint at the end of the shaft. The 9" runs a larger u joint. You will want a steel or chromoly shaft. If you can warrant the power and aggressiveness for a 9" then you will more than likely twist tht aluminum shaft into a pretzel. I've seen aluminum shafts break on 400 rwhp cars with some traction.

It really doesn't matter. I checked my receipt from when I bought my 9" 44.5" from seal to center of rear u joint. Cameron's Cove up in Marine city can make you one like I said I paid 275 for my shaft it may have even came from CCI but I got a package deal from Koreaky back in the day (drive-line solutions not sure if he's even still around?)1998 Camaro SS Bullseye Turbo

Nice let me know what you end up going with! what heads and cam are you running? assuming that you have more then the few bolt ons since the few u listed on your profile?Originally posted by Fbomb View PostI've also seen options for gun-drilling axles (35-spline) for weight, so far as strength I don't see how it would adversely effect it much. Seems like it would be something nice to include.
My car is pretty similar to yours, and I am also looking to upgrade the rear this year.sigpic

I don't think very many people realize the size of this stuff. my 31 spline "cheap" stuff is more than adequate and I throw some power at it off the trans brake. Seeing a set of 35 splines once I literally thought it came out of a damn dump truck.

yes your right, there's no need to go past a 33 and most are probably fine with the 31 like you said. Plus I think the 33 is the highest you can go without having to order either the locker or spool; might have been previously mentioned but just noticed that early this morning. Definitely not a cheap set up though at 2300 starting out. All those little nickel and dime add on parts on top of the base cost add up quickly! Whatever, the cost of doing things right I guess..can't wait thoughOriginally posted by SS4Matt View Post

besides the fact that is is completely unnecessary and one that are built for lots of power also are not meant for the streets like said before hoe the bigger axles do not like the flexing that is cause by street driving and have the tendency to break parts b.c of thatOriginally posted by BAMF TA View PostI see no reason to not go big... If youre going to do it... might as well go all out.
