I really hate to post this but everyone needs to know about my experience with Ridings Automatics..I first met Mike in Nov 09,came highly recommended from people on this site.I dropped the 4l60e trans off to him for a complete rebuild and a 3000 stall in Nov 09,was told it would be done in 2 wks,ok great, well turned into a month and a half,no big deal..I got the trans home installed it,filled it up with fluid and took it for a ride and noticed it did not shift correctly, called Mike and explained that there was something wrong with the trans, told him on the freeway rpms were 4grand at 70mph.We decided to wait til spring and get together and try and figure it out.So I contacted him again at the begining of June,we met up at 18 and Vandyke and he took it for a ride and figured out that it was starting out in 2nd gear and no od,This was June 7,He tells me he will come to my house and check out the wiring on June 12,said ok,waited all day,try calling no answer, finally get ahold of him at 5pm,said he will be by sunday june 13,said ok called and texted him at 9am to confirm,no answer,3pm he finally texted me back,I am hung over,I will be by tomorrow June 14th,said ok,So I call and talk to him and says he is going to order 2 new solenoids and he will be over the next day to install them,So the next day comes and I call to confirm, says that they didnt come in.I went to a trans shop and bought 2 new solenoids, called him to let him know I have the parts,NO ANSWER,OR CALL BACK..So now enough time has gone by,this is my buddys car and I feel like an ass because I took the trans to Mike,I have texted him and called and again no answer..I know this might piss off alot of people on here because I am writing this but It is not your money that he took,1400.00 may not be alot to some of you but it is to me..So I have this car sitting here at my house,I wont let my buddy drive it anymore incase anything else happens to the trans..Again I didnt want it to come to this but after 2 weeks with no call backs????What else am I suppose to do?

The man is busy, but he usually should respond to a PM, but this isn't the first time I've heard of this - though honestly, I don't know the circumstances, so I can't really say much.

I feel for ya - I just also know how Mike is when it comes to being busy and trying to get ahold of him.

honestly, if you have the solenoids.. ...sounds like youre having the same problem as me... ..all you gotta do is drop the trans pan. he should be responsible for replacing the parts since he built the trans, but if you cant get ahold of him, then what else can you really do?

I've heard nothing but horror stories when it comes to his time frames, but not much about the trans work itself that has been bad.

Are you leaving him messages? Last I heard he was working again. He runs this operation all by himself.

Well, Ive never done business with the guy. But the frequency that I see these threads between here and motown has officially reached the "annoying" status for me. If you can't answer a phone how can you run a business.

If the car was only being used for 1/8 or 1/4 mile,it shifts great the 1-2 shift is awesome and shifts hard..hopefully it is only a solenoid problem.

It's either a solnoid problem or a power/ground problem to the solenoid. Either way, I'll fix it!
