  • Big Block 96 Impala SS

I found a pretty nutty car yesterday.... 96 Impala SS with a 621 cubic inch big block/procharger built by Baker Engineering. I remember seeing this car around Grand Rapids when it had a 388 LT4 in it, apparently that wasn't fast enough! I don't have pictures and it's not on Prestige Imports website yet but here is a run down if anyone is interested.

    1996 Impala SS
    21k miles
    Completed big block in 1999

    Engine:
    Donovan Aluminum Tall Deck
    Dart 360 CNC heads
    Oliver Billet Rods
    Callies Crank
    Roller Cam
    9.2:1
    CSI water pump
    ProCharger D-2 (oil fed)
    Custom built intake plenum

    Currie 9" with 3.25 gears
    Full Hotchkis suspension
Bear/Alcon 4 piston brakes front and rear
    4L80E transmission
    Wheel hub conversion to 5x4.75
    GM A-mold (ZR-1) wheels
    315/35-17 front
    335/35-17 rears

    $25K

Rumor is the owner spent $150k on it. No dyno graph was available.

Im waiting for pictures. Not a lot of people put big blocks in the Imps, not enough room. Hell i had to cut the wiper cowl on mine to fit my built small block.

Waiting for pictures? It had the big block hood so it had to be a big block in there.

Talked to my buddy Travis. He did some work on the car and confirmed that it is still there. I will be stopping by tomorrow to take some pictures after I pick up my turbo.

Was he the guy thinking about buying it? Phil said an employee was thinking about buying it and installing an LT1 and selling the Donovan setup.
