    Drag cars vs. track cars.

Autos win in a straight line, manuals win if you have to turn at all.

Z06/ZR1s are squarely pointed at Porshes/Ferraris/Lamborghinis running road courses.

Just more straight line guys here, that's all......

There is no magic number that this occurs at, as every car (and location...i.e. running in Denver is not going to be the same as here) is different.

Regardless of the vehicle, get it dyno tested and find out where you make maximum torque.

Run a torque converter that is optimally 100-200 RPM less than that number.

This is true for every automatic trans powered car.

So, those of you with big block cars, please do not follow the advice of a 3600-4000 stall for your car...it will absolutely suck...

I get all that, but why not offer an auto? You can get an auto in a basic Vette or GS. My opinion is that sticks are considered to be more geared towards a "drivers" car and that's the person that buys a Z06 or ZR1. How many guys manually shift their autos to have more fun while driving? Sticks are just more fun, my .02.

Having a manual car is just so much more impressive to me with my juvenile mindset I mean..
-it makes cool noises when taking off from a light
-makes cool noises when decelerating and downshifting
-impresses most women because they are just completely dumbfounded by the second brake pedal and goofy stick thing.
-And they're just so much more fun, and make a safer driver IMO

You have a very nice base to build up from.
The manuals are nice to show off and probably more fun to drive, but you will see how old it gets to constantly shift gears and hitting the clutch just to go to the supermarket or run errands.
I agree that you should build up what you already have.
