Helen Gibbs ZL1 is for sale!

Plain and simple, this Helen Gibb ZL1 is special and the Gibb name is very special to a lot of real car guys out there. The beauty of these 2002 72 ZL1s is how they helped teach me and others the past history of the relationship between GM and a handful of dealers, including Fred Gibb back in the "muscle car" era. When you are paying a big chunk of money for one of these cars, you are not just paying for the car, you are also paying for the history and stories that go along with the car.

I would love to have Helen's 02 ZL1, it means a lot to me and obvously, it means a lot to others too.

Matt Murphy originally planned this car to be the one he kept for himself. Of course with the Phase III 600hp and 6 speed. By the time he found out Helen wanted one they were all already spoken for because all 69 were bought before the first one was ever built. So Matt being the class guy he is redesigned the car and made it available to Helen. It was not until Reggie Jackson backed out of his order for the green car that Matt was even going to have a car for himself.

The story of the 2002 ZL1 itself comes from Scott Settlemire. He was being ragged on by his counterpart at Ford about the demise of the Camaro and how there was going to be some very special Mustang with 500hp. Scott call Matt Murphy and said the Camaro needs to go out with a bang and more HP than the Mustang. Thus the ZL1 was born!
Special --- naw just another car
Never driven --- naw we just have 2 WMCC ZL1 owners that picked up their $100,000 1 of 69 600hp Phase III ZL1's in March and in June did the Power Tour Long Haul with them and now have over 10,000 miles on them.

On a side note: When the ZL1 became available the 2002 camaro could be had at 0% financing for 60 months. Those that knew the right salesman found a way to have their new $100,000 Camaro financed INTEREST FREE!!!

Is Helen Gibbs car special??? Sure it's just a $65,000 Phase I Automatic car that was originally planned for the car builders personal car that instead went to the First Lady of Drag Racing who just happens to be one of the absolute coolest 80+ year old ladies in the world whom without she and her husband there may not have been a '69 ZL1. People pay extra just to own a car that used to be owned by Reggie Jackson and he had nothing to do with car history. This is a car owned by someone that IS muscle car history.
She did drive the car but not a lot at here age. HOWEVER she and the car were at dozens of shows every year and she always made herself available to anyone that wanted to say hi. I (and other WMCC folks) have had the HONOR of being invited into her home where she was a wonderful hostess and has sat and told us amazing drag racing stories with even more amazing recellection from back in the day. She is one class act !!!

Anita & I were thrilled to talk to Helen and Nancy (her daughter) at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Chicago just this past November. And you're absolutely right, she's the coolest 80+ year old woman you could ever hope to meet. She always has a big smile and a hug when we see her.
