Truth be told....I'm home with a broken collarbone. If I need to clean the engine bay and post pics I will at request.

Sorry bro, not to beat a dead horse, but. From someone who has sold a LOT of cars and has even worked for a couple of dealers years ago, the devils in the details, espically in this economy. For any car to sell, even a daily driver taurus, it needs to look as if it has never seen dirt under the hood. But no armor all, that gives it that cheesy used car lot look. Just some simple green, fantastic, and glass cleaner. And, the car is beautiful. I love that color combo. That is what I was looking for when I bought my green 94. Good luck with the sale. Eric L

Seems unanimous I should get out there and try and clean up that engine bay a little and post some fresh pics. If this had been a long time planned sale it would have been done from the start, but the decision to part with it has been a hard one so it's kinda sudden. I'll get some cleaned up pics hopefully before tomorrow afternoon.

But you have to be careful in this economy when you take a 14 year old car with over a 100,000 miles on it and a dirty engine compartment and say the price is absolutely firm. Kinda scares people away. IMHO I would put it at 6000 and tell people you HAVE to sell it to draw them in. Than you can negociate and when they offer you 4500 on a hail mary offer, you can get your 5000. Its all in how you play the game brother. Hope this helps, Eric L

Totally agree....and I hope my info, pics help show how nice a vehicle it is. Most guys who have LT1's understand that washing the engine bay is a PITA because you have to worry about the opti....which is why it's so dusty.
I posted it on three sites that I know it would get solid exposure to quality car guys.....which is the guy a person I hope ends up with the car. I'll get the engine bay cleaned up and show it off with some pics tomorrow. It's supposed to snow tomorrow or the next day so hopefully I get it done.....I really wanna get myself into a new truck!

Its not as bad as people think. Just make sure you dont spray DIRECTALLY at the opti, and leave the engine running. I have been doing it this way for 8 years and my last opti was replaced with 145000 miles on it because I had the motor out, lol. Your best bet is to mix simple green and water 50/50 and use a spounge or wash mit to wash the inner fenders and valve covers and under side of hood. Than use some spray aluminum cleaner with a little acid in it to spray on the intake, but wash it off in about 10-15 sec. That will give it that whiteish aluminum new look. Than take a piece of 000 steel wool to the fuel rails and top of the intake. Put some aluminum polish on the wool and scrub the pieces. And to finish it off take that same piece of steel wool and scrub the brake lines from the master to the abs block. It comes out good. Check the pics of my camaro in my sig link. You should never spray a hot engine or any metal with water. Should always let it cool down first. Plug the intake with a rag to keep water from getting in.

Hot no, warm yes. Grease comes off a LOT easier when it is warmed up.

This is true! Just wanted to make sure we clarified, in my mind I was thinking he was driving it to a quarter car wash or something. Just didnt want him popping the hood and going crazy with the powerwasher.

Its ok to drive to the quater car wash and wash the motor, it wont hurt a thing I promise. And you only have to do it once. If you take a rag and wipe down your engine compartment after you wash your car, it stays looking clean. My motor is very clean, but not overly dorky detailed. There is such a thing as going to far and causing more work than nescessary. Ive seen guys polish the entire intake, water neck, water pump, etc. And if you dont keep up on it, it looks like crap.
