Yeah, I'm agreeing as well. Joel made an excellent point there.

Not only that he would have a car that is done, and wouldnt have to spend $2000 repairing a quarter panel. He would have a better car, and profit more in the end. he also has a third gen to daily drive in the meanwhile.-Joel

heres some reasonings behind my actions...Joel your thinking does make sense
I actually want to part the car out but have held off just because the car seems to nice to do that to
Parts I NEED: Windsheild, Exhaust, Interior, and i could use the rear suspension and i have some parts i WANT like the rear end, fans, radiator, etc
I could get all the parts I am looking for + $1200-1600 parting the rest of the car out
or sell the car for $2K and then just spend $1000 getting the parts I need so the opportunity cost of selling the car as a whole is already less appealing to me
Why dont I just swap the LS1/Drivetrain in the firebird? or rebuild the LT1?
1. I have put alot of work into my camaro, i cant let it go (imagine that
)
2. Camaro > Firebird (my opinion)
3. I really am not fond of the looks of 93-97 firebirds/formulas
4. The camaro has ttops
5. I dont know how to swap a LS1 into a LT1 car and i really dont feel like trying to find out
sorry for writing a book but that is why i'm doing what i'm doing, might not make sense to some folks

what do you need those parts for??? I know you have work into that car, but i mean its not like youve had a record of being sentimental.
I dont see whats difficult about the swap. Drop the K-members and swap them? The harnesses should switch right over... do some reading on the subject before you make a decision you regret. Many have people have done it.
That camaro needs 4 grand worth of body work to look AS good as the bird. the bird needs nothing. Im a camaro guy to the bone, but the unique factor of a formula is more appealing to me anyway.
T-top conversions have been done, in fact my buddy jon has done one without much difficulty. Guess what, youve already most of the parts you would need on the camaro to do it!!
are you trying to make money or do you want a nice car... because the route your going it doesnt seem like you are achieving eitherOriginally posted by badinfluence View Posti dont have time to fix it up.
its hard to sell anything over $1000 in the current economy, trust me it took me 5 months to sell my trans am, i cant wait that long
Just my viewpoint, i dont know all your plans so no offense meant. Trying to help.

yea theres just something about the firebird appearance that just doesnt excite or attract me idk
i cant sell my camaro, after the ebay relapse i realized i just cant do it, it has that "thats my car" feeling to it where others are just kind of temporary until i find something better. Funny story after i listed it on ebay i went to class and for all 4 hrs i wanted to go home and end the auction and rushed home
might regret it someday but i'll take that chance
but as of now the Z has cost me $1575.xx that is INCLUDING the car so if i sell this firebird i will have more than enough to finish it how i want itLast edited by badinfluence; March 10th, 2008, 08:36 PM.

I see a lot of posts about what a nice roller it is and to fix it...but no interest in seriously buying
...in all seriousness part it out and fix up the Z...if the Z is the car you want, you might as well make it the way you want

um, no interest in buying?? I spent an hour of my time getting him in contact with someone that was obviously interested and serious. I would buy it myself if i had the cash, but i dont. This thread currently has over twelve-hundred views.
This car has been for sale for 15 days in michigan. There are perfectly good cars that dont sell in this state after months.
He has the right to do what he wants with it, but saying a lack of interest is the reason is hardly believeable. Selling a car in 2 weeks is considered excellent here. People buy cars when they need them, not when deals come up. He wants to part it out to fix his 99, and as the owner he has every right to do that.
Adam - if you still want to sell the car, parts or anything else business wise, i suggest making a new thread and we can also close this one for you if you want.Last edited by JoeliusZ28; March 11th, 2008, 12:01 AM.-Joel

Hell...my car was for sale a year before I bought it - then again, he couldn't do it, drove it for another year, and put it up for sale again - where I bought it.
Still - that's quite a few months.
