IMO the verts on a "muscle car" are kinda a chick thing... sorry. I don't mind em on a cruiser muscle car, but If I was goin for a BA muscle car It would definitely need to be T-tops. I mean c'mon, Burt Reynolds in smoky and the bandit had T-tops, and thats about as BA of a Trans Am and driver combination you can get. haha. I agree tho to a point, I love drivin my '67 vert GTO, the girls love it!

like fred said, its 5500. and whether you like the car or not you could give it a try, decide you dont like it, and make money on the thing for a better vertOriginally posted by TSTONE View Postyeah he's actually looking for 7K "firm"
regardless - for me it has be a droptop - no T's - no HT's - everyone has a preference mine has always been wind in my hair, but thanx for the input
Wow, i really disagree with that.Originally posted by MattODoom View PostBut its got a corvette engine!!!!
Nah go for the LS1, 10x better engine and better looking nose to boot.
no offense todd, but i agree. IMO getting rid of the roofline takes away a lot from the look of many a muscle car. I think the roofline of 1st gen camaros is one of the best looking parts of the entire car, and i dont really know why...Originally posted by 19Xtreme99 View PostIMO the verts on a "muscle car" are kinda a chick thing... sorry. Todd, keep looking, and go for the LS1 4th gens. (98-02) Better engine and probably the best technology overall.
I enjoy my 97, and if it wasn't for it being the 30th Anniv, I would have liked to have gotten the 98-02 models.Eastern Michigan Camaro Club - President

Hmmm...I'm just guessing here, but I'd say that Todd is prioritizing the 'vert first and everything else second.
For the price, it's worth a good walk around if nothing else...and it's local.
Methinks it can be had for less than the buy it now price.
So...what the hell you doing this weekend?

No but i can argue that the LS1 isnt 10x better when I beat them with just headers. Ive even beaten a C5 in the qaurter mile which is a lighter car.Originally posted by MattODoom View PostThere is no way you can argue the LT1 is a better motor then the LS1.
Ive also gotten 33 mpg with my inferior LT1 regardless of people not believing it.
IMO the LS1 only key advantages over its SBC predecessor are:- better flowing heads that benefit you ONLY if you change the cam or do other mods
- No opti-crap
- 6 bolt mains and a bottom end thatll live under 700hp (but the LT1 will take 500 with only 2)
- aluminum block is lighter
- last but not least (and the reason stock LT1s suck in comparison), LS1s have factory shorty headers, while LT1s exhale through a straw. Ive demonstrated that fixing this is all you need to beat LS1s although i will admit my driving is usually what puts me ahead. Ive raced LS1s with longtubes as well, and when they only finish a car and a half ahead of me in the quarter, you know they dont benefit from them as much as i did.
beyond that....
and the noses are subjective for me, more often than not i will choose the LT1. the only reason i ever grew to like the LS1 nose is because of what it meant.
I almost wish my car wasnt going under the knife this spring, because i could easily put a smaller bolt-on number in my sig with it yet.Last edited by JoeliusZ28; December 4th, 2007, 09:12 AM.-Joel

Todd, I have to say I think you should go for an LS1 . . . and get one with some wings on it
the 98+ T/A 'vert is truly one of the most beautiful cars ever made IMHO.
I'm not hating on the LT1, but you can get an LS1 for about the same $$ if you look around a bit. There isn't that much price diff. right now between 96-97-98 with comparable mileage. Sounds like you're not in a hurry, so I'd keep looking if I were you.
No matter what you end up with, I'm sure you will enjoy a 4th gen - good luck on the search!sigpic

Regardless of my response to matt, i also think an LS1 is generally the better route to go nowadays because they are newer, and availible cheap. (no opticrap either).-Joel
