  • MiFbody.com -- Beefing up the Technical Aspect

    All,

Starting immediately, we will be trying to open the doors to more technical aspects of the website. You will notice the biggest change in the Top Statistics -- we have done away with the top posters and have filtered the latest posts such that we now have Latest Technical Posts and Latest Social Posts. In a nut shell, the Technical posts are only the technical forums -- the Generation Specific and the Technical section. The rest of the forums are deemed as "Social Posts."

Moving forward, please do your best to not outright postwhore or thread jack the Technical posts. We've been listening to feedback from the member community. We've heard many complaints about technical posts being either buried at the bottom of the latest statistics due to all the social posts. We've also heard many complaints about technical discussions being thread jacked and/or whored so much that the topic is lost.

We are asking the members and staff to be more diligent on this, and understand it will take a little getting use to. We want to establish this website to be sufficient for everyone, technical or social.

Also, just wanted to comment before anyone says anything -- we are not trying to do away with the social part of the site. Mifbody.com is meant to be social through and through. We want to encourage the technical posts just as much as we encourage the social aspect. We have a LOT of knowledgeable people on here, lets use our resources. We're going to continue to be more of a social website, but we want to beef up the technical side so that our member base doesn't ALWAYS feel the need to go to other sites to ask simple questions.

I'm really excited for the changes ahead as we try to take MiFbody to the next level.

Sounds good B - being one of the less "car knowledgeable" on the site, I look forward to learning more . . .

We all know how technical I am.

And if you don't -- I'm the least technical person on this site when it comes to cars.

great idea.. that is very true the technical ones always used to get thrown down the list so fast and i would always have to go search through my profile just to find the topics.

what if we ditched the new member section and expanded the tech one, would it allow you to put last poster's name then? Hard to tell when someone replies right now with the date

Also seems to not be turning off the orange icon for new posts. I have to manually go to quick links and mark all read to turn the orange off
