I agree with Michael. I think it would be a great idea.

This is what it looks like right now unless someone who is really familiar with PHP/Javascript steps in to help.

Honestly, I would just use what is already available. They don't overlap too badly when you zoom in. If you are looking for someone local, zoom in on your area, find the users in your area, and PM them.

Don't forget, people looking for a hand on a project, I'm always willing to drive out for a weekend for the cost of gas and food. . . lol I know a bunch of people on the site are the same way. Only thing is, that gas is going in my 'bird, I'm not driving the truck that far with no radio, especially with the beautiful weather Michigan's been having lately.

You're not seeing the overlap, Nick. For example, zoom in to Mackinaw City area. There's a marker for Cheboygan and a marker for Indian River. The Cheboygan marker's shadow is really dark because they're stacked ontop of eachother. There's actually 2 for Cheboygan which is why the shadow is darker than the Indian River (only 1). Another example is if you were to zoom in where the 48042 zip code maps to for Macomb MI, when you click the marker it shows 76RedTA because he's the last person who registered with 48042 as his zip code. In reality, there's like 5 of us at the very least with 48042 as their zip code.

I see. Well, if SOMEONE would learn programming, we wouldn't have this problem now, would we?!

Yeah, it goes by the center of the zip code. That way it remains mildly anonymous - it's not hovering right over your home address although it is within a few miles of your house.

                        Made some progress:
                        http://mifbody.com/vbulletin/map/map2.php

Click on the Sault St Marie or Cheboygan ones. Only bad part is ones like for Macomb, New Baltimore, Chesterfield, etc are huge and have way too many tabs...

+1 Leaving it to just the zip code is perfectly fine. If someone wants to know where another person lives they can pm that said person and ask.

Yeah, keep in mind it's 100% based off the zip code. So while it might narrow it down to a few square miles, it'll never be directly over your house unless the dead center spot of your zip code just happens to be your house.
