  • Old Fart/Big Kid/long post

Hello Eveyone. My name is Mary Sue a.k.a. Red, and my daughter Hillary insisted I post as an Old Fart, but I promise I don't squeak when I walk. Now for the fun stuff...in July of '05, a friend pulled into our driveway in a Z28. I blackmailed/coerced him into letting me take it for a drive. As soon as I hit the pavement, I was hooked. Always did have a love of muscle cars. To make a long story shorter, my friend happened to come upon a few nasty speeding tickets...te-he...which prompted him to sell the car to me in the fall of '06. He originally purchased the car from a guy in Paw Paw who was selling for his father who is currently incarcerated for running meth labs. And that would explain the pot I found under the carpet when I was ripping it out.
My car did have a party history and it showed. It needed a new front fender along with numerous other fixes. To date I have installed extreme dynamat liner throughout the car. I love the sound coming from the pipes but I also like to hear my music (I'm an old rock and roller) and the liner helps. The car also has all new carpet, all new moulding around the doors and windows, all new interior panels e.g. kick, sail, and rear hatch. The rear seats have been reupholstered to match the new Sparco Torino II seats up front. Rear seat also has custom embroidery...a spider dangling from a web in the center of the upper rear seat. Front seats have new seat sliders and custom seat brackets along with all new seatbelts throughout the car. Dash has a new dash pad, all new air vents, and a carbon fiber gauge bezel. The center console is all new along with a new shift plate (I finally found a place that has these elusive parts), Momo Atomik shift knob and pedals. All the lights in the car work now as well. The door panels have been repainted with custom embroidery on the upper door section. It says Dark Eco along with a spider dangling from a web.
You might be wondering what Dark Eco is all about. It is a purplish black substance that makes Jak very strong and powerful. This is coming from the Jak and Daxter PS game series (this is where Big Kid applies). So we figured what better name to call a LT1. I added the spider to give the car a sinister touch. Our avatar picture is actually the hood of our car.
Now for the exterior...new right front fender, SS spoiler, big block "stinger style" hood, brushed stainless Z28 emblems, polished billet grill, and hood pins. The hood is another long story but I won't go into that right now...thus the hood pins. The car had rocker panel repair and some underside floor pan repairs and was then coated with a black rubber substance for added protection and interior sound reduction.
I also had a new gas tank installed along with a Flo Master stainless cat back dual outlet exhaust. As far as the paint job goes...the car looks better than it did when it rolled of the production line.
I should have the car back this week sometime and might drive by the Hamilton Car Show. Don't think we will participate 'cause I don't feel quite ready yet but look forward to meeting some of the WWMC members.
So do I get an award for the best long winded post?
By the way, I still have my old interior panels if anyone would like them. They are gray and not in very bad shape. If you want them to resell, forget it. I'm not asking for anything in return, just want someone that could actually use them to take them off my hands.

Not even close, Mary Sue, but a darn fine effort!

My grandmother lived in Allegan for 70+ years so I've got a warm spot for that town.

        Welcome and enjoy!

Welcome to the site, Red! Definitely can't wait to see pics, and I think you've just taken away my title for having the only one on here with the stinger hood.

Also -- what interior parts do you have? I could really use a new dash pad and gauge cluster if you still have them.

Brian, I don't think you want my dash pad. I replaced it because it was cracked up pretty good. The vents were cracked and it spread out from that point. I have my original gauge cluster. I just covered it with a bezel. I do have a glovebox, kick panels, sail panels, and all of the rear hatch panels. If you want anything let me know. As soon as my old seats are out, I will also have those seat brackets if anyone wants them. They could be cleaned up nice with a little acid and then painted.
