Nice looking cars. I am not telling you, you are wrong but i thought on a N/A car you usually wanted higher compression. Hell my dad has a 79 T/A and it has the 403 (DOG) well anyways in the 70's they were big into emissions and therefore lost a lot of there power. like on that 403 they put really big CC heads on it. I know if you put a set of smaller CC the power is improved by dramaticlly.

I want higher compression for performance reasons, but it's also my summer daily driver. I have my ign timing really backed off due to my high compression ratio right now. If I run any more timing, even on Sunoco 94 octane, I risk detonation. I'm going to match the combo more. It's got plenty of low end grunt, but it's just not matched right.Originally posted by MyBadZ28Nice looking cars. The heads on there now are 72 cc. The ones I'm going to put on are right around 90-100 cc (depending how I work them). They're going to let the car run on pump Premium with advanced timing very comfortable. Heck, the 77 is running 7.x:1 compression and kicks the snot out of my car with similar mods on it
Oh and to those interested, the TH400 and 3.55 work nicely together for street driving
They kinda suck though on the hwy (I turn somewhere in the 3k-3.5k rpm range holding with traffic). Pontiac motors redline at 5k. So...yeah...not the most fun. But it's not a hwy car. It's a street car / summer driver.

Hey Mark, glad to see ya finally registered! Definitely don't know what's going on with SEMB, sure seems weird though. Lot of members left with a lot of questions.
Edit: I just looked and SEMB is back up -- Eric posted saying the site was down because they were moving hosts, now the new (and anonymous) administrator is in charge.
