  • New to MIFbody

Hey all. I'm Mark. Those from the (now decomissioned?) SEMB forum may/may not remember me as WhiteMonteZZZ on there. I have a black on black lightly modified 1980 Trans Am with a '68 Pontiac 400 under the hood. I was (and will be) out at AutoEurope many fri/sat nights with the SEMB/MIFBody crowd.

In my sig image are both my '80 and my father's '77 (also seen out Woodward on many occasions).

I hope to see you guys out Woodward this year and get involved with MIFbody moreso.

[And Brian, I TOLD you I'd register soon enough.]

    -Mark

EDIT: I see there are some other 2nd gens on here as well! Good to know!!!

            Thanks!

And to anyone interested, here's a quick rundown my 80:

            80 T/A Body
            68 Pontiac 6.6L 400, virtually stock internally
            69 #62 Heads
            TH400 Trans w/shift kit
            Edelbrock Performer Intake
            Holley 750 carb
            Upgraded Ignition
            3.55 Rear Axle
            Other misc. goodies

*The above is the current setup. I'll be changing it slightly this Spring (due to minor valve problems) and dropping the compression ratio down (I'm running 9.5-10:1 right now, too high for my liking) by means a cylinder head change (to 6x-8 heads with mild work for you Pontiac gurus). I'm also going to go with higher ratio rocker arms (1.65) to offset my limited cam lift. I figure i'll be somewhere in the 7ish:1 compression ratio, but this will allow me to get more ignition timing out of the car (Pontiac motors like timing ). All in all this year it should be pretty well matched for what I want it to do.

            Jeremy,
Your sig image looks familiar. Are you on TransAmCountry.com?

Yeah I'm on TAC. I don't post very much on there though. How is the 3.55 rear gear treating you with TH400?

You have any pics of your engine?
