Just introducing myself. I'm Alex. I own a 1995 Trans Am M6 car. Fairly new to the scene, I acquired my TA in March. I bought it with a bad opti and the trans was locked up in 6th gear. I personally replaced the opti (twice, bought one and they sent me the non vented the first time ) and rebuilt 5th, 6th, and Reverse in the transmission. I am dealing with a running rich condition. I replaced the air filter and it didn't improve. I'm planning on giving the car a tuneup in the near future to see if that helps.

Welcome to the site Alex! How badly rich is it running? Is it running rich to the point that it's bogging the car down and the fumes stink? That's typically a condition when the temperature sensor on the head goes bad.

        Welcome to the site Alex.

It your interested in getting to know or hang out with other firebird owners/enthusiasts, I would recommend checking out the Michigan Firebird Club (MIFC). MIFC is a club hosted at mifbody and we have a Facebook. There are links in my signature to our Facebook, forums hosted at mifbody, and how to join. You can only view my signature on web view and not on tapatalk.

Its not running too bad. Just has the smell out the tailpipes. The car sat for quite awhile and the air filter and oil filter/oil itself were nasty when I acquired it. That's why I thought the first step might be a tuneup.

And yeah Nick, I do cruise up there every once in awhile.

            Welcome to the site Alex

            - My car smells like fuel is dumping out of my tailpipes, but AFR is right were it needs to be. if its no effecting drive-ability i wouldnt worry about it.

Then youre on the right track, sounds like all you need is a good tune up. if your problem still remains try cleaning the MAF and TB. It also wouldnt hurt to replace the 02 Senors. Let us know if you get it sorted!
