Hey my name is Jon and just registered with mifbody. I have a 2000 Trans Am WS6 white with a couple things done it. I have been been in the US Army on active duty now for 10 years and I am currently stationed out of Hawaii. For the last couple of months I have been deployed to Afghanistan will be here for a while yet. But the deployment is a great because I have been able to order plenty of parts for my car to have a totally awesome build when I come home. Although I cannot wait to come home to Grand Rapids. Michigan and see my family again. Also I know I am not supposed to post questions in the new members section but if anybody knows any good shops that specialize in the ls1 in the Michigan area? I am looking to send my car into the shop to install these parts and not get killed with the labor price. I have everything from .410 gears to new heads. So if you could please help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. Also I am excited to get back to michigan and get to know some of you and maybe go to some of the meets when I get out of the army. Thanks again

Stay safe, man! Welcome to MiFBody, we have lots of Westsiders here, and I'm sure that almost all of them would be happy to help direct you to a reputable shop when you get home.

Hey Jon, welcome to Mifbody and thanks for serving! I did a little searching and found a couple possibilities for you. You may have heard of them. They both have excellent reputations. The first one is Baker Engineering. http://www.bakerengineeringinc.com/ The second one is closer to your home town of GR. His name is Ty Mason. He did all the engine work on the 4th gen Berger edition Camaros for Berger Chevrolet in GR and is known as an "LS guru". Custom Horsepower is the name of his business and he does all the tuning work and dyno services as well. He is in Caledonia just east of M-37(beltline) and 68th street. its the only one I know of in GR area with a chassis dyno.

        Give him a call.
616-498-6608 (he may answer the phone as south Kent storage.) Be safe and take care

Hey glad to see you registered over here, Jon. Sorry I couldn't be more of a help in your facebook message - I'm only familiar with the shops on the east side.

Very cool place. I saw a one armed guy and his dog do 700 bhp in a 60s Dart there.

Hey I just want to say thank you for the welcomes and all the help. Hoping to hit around the low 500's with this. Just a couple more things to order. I have to say this is one of the most friendliest websites I have been on. Some really good people on here. I am honored to be a part of this group.

Welcome. The people mentioned are definitely good folks and know what they're doing. Just wanted to add Port Sheldon Auto (PSA) to that list of possibilities as they have done a lot of LS stuff and tune as well. They also have a nice new chassis dyno built in the floor. Located off Chicago Dr. between Jenison and Hudsonville. Good luck and stay safe. Look forward to seeing the car around.
