Im using an AI 226/234 cam with unported slightly modified stock heads. Modifications to heads include: Milling for more compression (11.6:1) and cleaned up valve bowls. Other noteable stuff is longtube headers, electric water pump, LS1 lid conversion, and 3" true duals.
You'll also need a larger stall converter for the automatic.
Its a pretty simple build, and in my opinion its the best bang for the buck setup you can do on an LT1. My best ET is a 12.5 on street tires, but usually it runs around a 12.9 at 111. It has a wide power curve and doesnt rev to the moon so exploding optisparks hasnt been an issue. Ive got 15k miles on the setup now, and its been driven to its limit frequently.
