What kind of budget are you looking at?

LS swap....pretty much the standard answer for anyone seeking advice on the LT1 around this site. May I suggest LTXTech.com..... Lots of options for the LT1 and it can in many cases out perform the mighty LS....

Buy a package kit from Elliot's Port Works, Advanced Inductions, Trick Flow, etc and bolt go from there.

What are your goals for the car? Street driving? Drag Racing? Road Racing? Autocross? Pulling 5th wheel trailers?

a h/c 383 should get you there pretty easily... probably doable with just heads/cam and a stall.
