    • Trans is back in. So far everything feels solid, the shifting is nowhere near as plush as what it was before...but I half expected this with the bronze fork pads. They might need a little time to wear the surfaces flush.

Still have a bunch of clunks and rattles to figure out. One rattle is probably the strut bar hitting the intake since the poly mounts raised the motor. I also I need to go through the rear suspension components and tighten/lube everything. Also have a slight feeling my aluminum driveshaft is hitting the loop. Half tempted to buy a GoPro camera for diagnostics

        • First clunk figured out. Less than 1/4" between the torque arm and the bolt that holds the fuel/brake line in place near the seat belt mount in the tunnel.

The rear TA mount on the pumpkin will hit the tunnel on some bigger bumps...BFH will take care of that later on. Aluminum DS is creaking/pinging when I rotate it...uhh!?!?! No binding, can spin it with one hand. I put in my steel one for now

Transmission clunks. I think it's just the nature of the beast with the little bit of surging from the engine and the slack in the driveline. It is coming out tonight for an inspection and to redo the sealing surfaces as one of them is leaking a little bit. I'll recheck lash/preload throught while it's halfway apart.

          • This is after about a mile of driving, went easy on the shifts too.

Edit: Found out why...new 1-2 slider/hub didn't have a machined groove like the old

            • Trans is back together and in the car. 1-2 shifts are great but 3,4, and 5 seem a little sticky now All I did was replace the 1-2 slider and fork pads.

Dirty car, and the ****ing Cottonwood trees are in full swing right now. I had to use the leaf blower and shop vac to clear out the garage

              • I feel your pain on the cottonwood. I left the garage door open last Saturday when I was working on my car and now my garage is full of cotton.

And I have no clue what I'm looking at in those pictures of the trans parts.

                  My entire undercarriage is furry!

Those bronze pads on the shift arms ride in the slider groove. They move the slider back and forth, connecting output shaft to a different gear in the gearset. They are pretty simple once you get your hands on one and see it in action.

                  • Today I've been working on the interior wiring. Got my WB setup installed and looks good.

Two things though - is that a little light underneath the center vents, towards the back? I pulled off that small plate and used that as the opening for my WB pod and mounted it under there.

I have an 82-86 pedal setup Time to dish out more $$$ for the correct pedal assembly or search for the right pigtails to get the clutch interlock switch working.

I'd say it's time for an inspection! Reverse gears are always noisy due to large straight cut gears. Forward gears should be smooth unless the lash is off, which means worn bearings.

                              • New u-joints in the aluminum DS and it's moving again. I'll be rebuilding the steel one to keep as a backup shaft.

Bought a Moates Ostrich2.0 the other night so I can tune on the fly. I think I'll end up doing some tunes on the side to help offset the cost

                                Edit:
I had my phone recording while the blow up happened. The video was choppy and horrible so I just uploaded the audio...which isn't that great because I had the phone squished between my chin and chest to hold it 27 seconds in.
