Been real busy lately, haven't had much time on the computer...finally got the header gaskets replaced, but had problems with the bolts backing out on the driver's side, so I think that one is blown out again (running pig rich on that bank, fouling plugs ) Thankfully it's the driver's side though, and not the absurdly difficult to get to passenger I'm really thinking I should just bite the bullet, and put in locking bolts...

but anyways - the pics that have been requested

        What I started with:

Had some pretty serious oxidation on the hood

After an afternoon washing and LOTS of hand rubbing with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound followed by waxing:

and the same hood shot as before:

It's not showroom by any means, but looks a hell of a lot better than before, and I don't feel like I'm driving a white trash special anymore, lol While it would be nice to run over the whole car with a DA, there's enough chips/cracks in the paint now that I think making it super nice/glossy would only make the flaws stick out even worse, not to mention that nice crinkle in the hood So this will have to do until next spring when I can lay down a new paint job on it

Thanks for the compliments First time I've ever brought back a car that was this far gone, and I even impressed myself with how good it came out I thought for sure the paint on the hood was going to just be done, and in need of a repaint. It needs a repaint anyways, as I don't think I'll ever be able to match the black if I just redo one or two panels (and I'm far too anal about things like the shade even being a tiny bit off, lol), plus I'm not too wild about a black car, although I will admit full blacked out cars do look good. But that all is well in the future, and I'm still digging it the way it is regardless
