Not sure yet. Maybe you could give me some ideas. I have a rape-me-red 97 firebird. I want it to look classy, yet mean.

Pheonix - On a car with that type of red, you'd want a dark tint to set off a great contrast, but to add that touch of class on the side glass you back off one step from limo. That'd be 15%.
You'd probably want to get a 5% on the hatch. It keeps everything back there out of sight, the car stays much cooler, and it looks spectacular. That's a big piece of glass so it is going to make the difference. You will also keep your carpet from fading.
What you do on your side windows depends on how badly you want a ticket.
I had a black 98 Regal GS with 5% on all of the glass and it took me about a year to get a ticket.
All the tint I buy is Johnson's Window Films. No matter how dark you go, it's always 100% UV Protected.
You'd probably want a 15%>30% on the side windows. That's what most customers go with at Slim's. You're just as likely to get a ticket with 15%, but a cop might pass if they see you with 30%. There's also 54%, but that's a waste of money.. There's a big panel between the hatch the the side windows so the contrast can be pretty extreme and you won't look retarded.
I wouldn't tint the windshield anything but 54%. You can barely see a 54% tint, but it keeps all of the UV out of your eyes and cuts down greatly on HID glare. Night driving isn't compromised with a 54% and you get all of the benefits of tint.
I can tint T-tops too. It's done for the look and/or the UV protection.
I'm ordering different varieties.. If you can't make up your mind, I'll have a demo setup that I'll bring to meets and have at my house and whatnot.Last edited by Insomnya3AM; February 28th, 2006, 05:44 PM.

Killercam - Hahah, I loved having straightup limo on my Regal. Even on the HOTTEST days, my car was still icy cool inside.
Josh - Aw, why not before I tint? Is it the whole 'you shouldn't work with razor blades when you're drunk' thing?
I have a feeling I'll be doing a good amount of SK tint too, heh.

hahahah
Is it on your Camaro or a dime?
I could do a dime back window with my eyes closed, I heart flat glass.
I'm actually ordering my tools off of 44 as we speak.

Justin - What's going on man? I guess I turned this thread into a small party
Josh - So glad there's another f-body in SK. Gotta stick together, haha. Maybe I can be a 'real' member now that I have something a little more kustom.

I think you might've tinted my car afterall. I remember the guy that did it had a Camaro of his own that was out infront of the building and was for sale... maybe it was a white/silver one if I remember correctly? It was two summers ago. I had 35% on the sides, limo on the hatch. Lasted just over a month and then I got pulled over and had to remove the side 35%. I was so pissed too, was on my way to my grandma's house with my mom in the passenger seat, not like I was partying it up clambaking on my way to a party.
Here's how it looked like the same day I brought it home from the shop..

Haha, granted it was back in 2004 so I don't know if you got that good of memory of customer cars and such, but I had a really annoying alarm also that had passive arming, would arm itself after 30 seconds.Last edited by meissen; February 28th, 2006, 07:32 PM.- Brian Meissen

yea 1 piece tint is no problem even on the HUGE F-body hatches...you just need a 36 inch roll...we use Llumar tint at my work. and it's all in the heat shrinking....that's where you get it to the shape you want....oh and 50% is not a waste of time
i have actually had just about every % imaginable on my car lol....i just keep going lighter after every ticket...i have always had 5% on my hatch...then i went with 15% on my sides...got a ticket...went 35% on my sides...no ticket...got 35% on my windshield...TICKET...now i just have 50% on my sides and my 35% on my shield, and it still looks pretty dark cause of the angle you look in f-bodies...as well as my windshield helps to darken stuff up. i had to order like a 45 inch roll or something stupidly large like that to tint my windshield.....but yeah tinting is definatly a talent! mad props to you if you can do it!
