Hey guys I'm not new to the site but am thinking of picking up another camaro again. What the heck happened to prices in the last year or two though, they seem to have shot way up. The car I'm looking at is 14 years old with pretty low miles and a decent amount of work done but is going for 7400 bucks which seems like alot for a LT1. But after looking at many different cars it actually seems like a good deal compared to what everyone else is selling theirs for. The only problem is KBB prices it around 2000 less than what it is up for, and Nada about 1000 less. Now I know that you can factor some money for the aftermarket parts but I would have expected this car to be going for around 5500 bucks the way it is. I guess I will see what the bank tells me they will give me and make a decision based off of that.

My complete guess would be the sudden interest in FBodies again due to the 5th gen coming out has caused prices of all the other cars to go up because now they're more sought after.- Brian Meissen

Quote: "...or that they just flat out rule..." LoL true true, I am just leary of buying it, and the value dropping out the bottom once the 2010 comes out. But.... 2nd gens are starting to go up in price too, whole cars, parts, everything, because they newest one is 17 years old and first gens are pretty well tapped out and those prices are through the roof.

not trying to brag or anything, but if that car compares to mine its worth more than 7500. I know its my opinion, but i think i would be getting robbed if i were to get 7500 for my car.Originally posted by nascarnate326 View PostFor 7400 it better be near Joels car quality wise, or damn fast.
Well kept f-bodies of any generation are holding their value. I hear all the time that "wow seems like a lot of money for a fourth gen" ... and i rarely agree. Theres alot more that determines a cars value than just year and model. With f-bodies you get what you pay for. Most 4th gens have gotten cheap enough that most owners cannot justify the cost of maintaining them (and our cars are expensive to maintain). If the owner wants to sink 3k of new parts into a car that only cost 5k, chances are its in good hands and being maintained. Most wouldnt do that, and running it into the ground seems the more sensible option. KBB doesnt account for ANY of this, and therefore is worthless in assessing an f-body.
year and miles dont come close to being as important as vehicle history. I dont care what kind of car it is --- if its been stored winters, comes with a complete maintenance log, and hasnt been abused, its worth easily double what the same car is thats been daily driven and beat on.
I would be looking for high prices if i was in the market because that tells me the owner has more invested in the car than just gas and oil. You can always make offers. Better to walk away from a beautiful car you cant afford than to get stuck with a POS you cant afford to fix.Last edited by JoeliusZ28; February 16th, 2008, 02:26 AM.-Joel

It's all in the bell curve.
First gens are through the roof.
Second gens are about to go through the roof (some already have).
Third gens have bottomed out.
Fourth gens are still falling, although the LT1 cars are closer to bottoming out. LS1 values are falling faster than Brittney Spears' career.Originally posted by Redd8407I WANT NOISE! SPEED!
