Some bit of an update for everyone who cares.

The floor pans in my car were really solid. Its never been driven in the winter, and shows it. Still, 18 years on her as taken its toll and there is surface rust here and there, not to mention the spots under the drivers seat were amplified big time by me driving in the rain a couple times over the summer. (doh). So I busted out the wire wheel and had at it. Most of my efforts have been on the trans tunnel so I can get the trans back in tomorrow. I am covering it with Eastwood's "Rust Encapsulator". My dad has used this on his '67 Nova and really loved it so he recomended it to me. After shipping, $37 for the quart, sheez. But the tunnel is all nice and purdy now. Once im done I will have redone the whole underside of the car with fresh paint, including K member (already done). My goal is to preserve the car as Ill be away for college the next 4 years, and I want a good body to work with down the road.

    So heres some pics.

    Before

    Tunnel is done:

I also had some minor surface rust up in the strut tower. It was coated with OneStep, which converts rust->primer and then top coated

Sweet dude. Ya that stuff is expensive for sure. I have trans fluid/oil keeping my underside rust free! Nice addition to the sig too...lol

Well MrMojoRisin and I put the trans in saturday, took about 7 hrs. Mad props to him for the help. Today I finished up the cooler lines and torque arm / driveshaft and now the car is just a day of floor pan painting away from drivability. Woot! Pics tomorrow

Bleh. Line lock unit had a leak and sprayed brake fluid around some parts of the engine bay. god*(&^ it. If you have ever spilled any of the stuff you know as soon as it touches the paint it takes the paint off. So now I have to remake a stock brake line and screw the line lock as well as clean and repaint my shock tower, WOOT.

lol dude. that sux bad. When I pulled my engine the second time by buddy jacked up the back so we could unbolt the trans and the frigging gas line leaked all over the damn place. I just repainted the engine compartment a year ago. F#$#!

I was able to remake the line and it looks as stock as stock can look, I was proud. LOL. I got it repainted too but you can still see where the brake fluid ate into the primer there is a little drip mark here and there.

Word of advice when it comes to brake fluid.... squirt some water on it really quick and it neutralizes the brake fluid.... neat little trick if you didnt know....

Well I finished it up.... the floorboards are all painted (as far as I was going to paint them) Obviously there is some spots I just cant get too with the rear suspension on, but all the main parts where surface rust was forming are all fixed. Then I bled the brakes out. Only had one accident - master cylinder reservoir cap was not on as tight as we thought and when we pumped the brakes, we actually pumped brake fluid all over the cowl. Woot. But using you guy's advice I had a bottle of water handy and we were able to minimize damage. Cleaned & repainted that spot and got her back down on her paws! Now all thats left on my original list of mods is a new headliner and new meats.

Woot I got to pull it out of the garage today. So now I can clean up that dusty mess out there. Had all I could do to stop it from moving even idling, had to push the brakes through the floor lol.
