  • Got fuel, got spark, no start.

Title explains it, fuel to the schreader valve, spark to the plugs, yet, no start.

1987 firebird, with a 2.8 brand new fuel pump, new plugs, new wires.

Im fresh out of ideas, any help for a young man with a dead bird?

    Thanks, Niko.

Car cranks? Car clicks, what does the car do while turning the key? Good strong battery? Connections and grounds good?

Fuel, Air, spark, compression, and ignition timing. More history of the car is needed. Was it running before the plugs and wires? Could a couple wires have gotten crossed when putting new wires back on, etc? Check the firing order and then double check it.

An update, car has developed a case of no spark, receiving 12v to coil, with key on, no spark from coil. I'm testing from the red wire going into the coil, is the appropriate place to test?

        Dead coil?

And the car hasent ran since 2009. I'm trying to put it back on the road.

And yes, the car cranks, good strong battery.

fuel at the schrader valve doesnt mean its coming out the injector. check injector for pulse with a noid light.
there should be power on both wires of the injectors. if not check the injector fuses.
alot of times the icm in the dist is bad

You've tested the power wire going to the distributor and you have 12 volts there but no spark getting to the plugs right? Obviously your problem is between the power wire and plug wires so yea a coil is as good a place as any to start. If that does not fix it then ignition control module would be my next step. Or junkyard source a distributor.

The coil is a remote coil right? Meaning not attached to the distributor. How is all the wiring going to it? Good shape?

Yes, it is a remote coil. All the wires are in good shape, I put a spark plug directly in the coil wire, and there's no spark.

I think I'll pick up a coil from the auto zone tomorrow, see if it helps my cause, thanks everyone.

Good luck man. I hope you figure it out. I don't have much experience with the remote coil set ups late 80's early 90's GM. However on the older HEI set ups when there is a problem it is usually one of two things, ICM or coil. So again good luck buddy.

                    Still no spark. New coil.

                    Any tips?

Has the gas been drained and replaced since 2009? it would not be any good for octane
