Spacer and wheel offset questions

Ok, now that I have my lowering springs in I think I want different wheels. I'm looking at some C-5 Z06 wheels 17X9.5 and 18X10.5. Also some 2002 SS SLP wheels (the ten spoke that is blacked out on the back side). How do I know what size spacers I will need? Is it safe to use studs that long? If I have to use a 2 inch spacer, that would mean that the studs would have to be pretty long. Just worried about them being safe and handling horsepower later on. I see cars everywhere online with 4th gen and C-5 wheels.

4th gen rear end is what Im using is 2" inches wide then the 3rd gen axle, so for running 4th gen style wheels or vette wheels you will need to run a 2" spacer on your stock axle, as far as the front Im using a 1.5" spacer and have no issues. however you can run a 2" in front as well with no issues

Thanks Greg! Any pics of the car with the wheels? It just seems like having the studs that long wouldn't be very safe.. Like I said I am seeing tons of cars with the newer wheels though. So I guess it must not be a problem.

Nice man! How do they look down the side of the car? Do they stick out any? 18's and 19's or 17's and 18's? I want mine to sit as flush with the side of the car as possible.

as of right now the front suspension is off the car, your more then welcome to come by check out the spacers I have.

They are staggered 17 in front 10.5" wide and 18" 12.5" wide in the rear
this is the only picture I have at the moment, they are wide but they will tuck the rear fender lips.

There are adaptors you want, not spacers. The studs are standard length with 2 sets of them offset radially. Running studs long enough to go through a 2 inch spacer would be extremely dangerous.

Jesus man those things are monsters! Looks pretty tough though. Once I get some more money saved I will probably come by and check out your set up. Those are some meats on the back!

I called them spacers but I have the adapters that James is talking about.

Thanks James! Yeah that sounds a bit safer to me. Everyone is calling them spacers. I just wanna make sure that its safe and I dont fold up the side of my car by losing a wheel.

yes they are..thanks, if your free tomorrow and weather is nice bring your car over and we can mount one side of the adapters and my wheels to give you a real idea...does take long at all

My car is still out out of commission. We did the lowering springs and shocks and struts earlier in the week. Tomorrow we will be doing sway bar links, an idler arm, and a center link. When that is done we will be putting in a new battery and flushing the cooling system. My coolant looks horrible! I bought the car from a lady, she never did any maintenance. Maybe next weekend?
