I have in idea about getting parts for the dash. I can only imagine getting anything for that dash will be a total pain in the a$$. That stupid 2 barrel piece of crap carb needs a rebuild. when that mighty secondary opens it up tends to start chugging and then will die. It starts right back up but it is perfect as long as you don't hammer on it. I have been having problems with getting an air filter the one that is in there is a 3523. Autozone and every other parts store says I need a 3647 or some crap like that. Sure enough it doesn't fit. I did end up getting one. It needed it bad. I don't think I have ever seen a rusty air filter. I have been loading the carb up with carb cleaner, but I think the problem may be deeper than that.
Thanks for all your positive remarks on the old Berlinetta

whats your idea on parts for the dash? and you could just hold on to that 2.8 for nastalgia purposes and throw a 355 in there or something. but it is your car. my camaros carb used to do that same thing. i rebuilt the carb and it still did it, i ended up cleaning the mani and cylinder heads and everything because they were all gummed up for those 4 years of sitting.91 Trans am, 305, Lt1 cam, 24lb injectors, headers, SLP LM2, SW chassis, massive panhard, lowered, modded TPI, Tuned, 4.10s, Lincoln locked

Currently I don't need to replace any dash parts. Everything works fine. If it fails it looks like those digital dash and push button controls could be tough to replace. Just for fun I decided to check out eBay and see if there were any of these on there. Right now there isn't any. I did find some carb rebuild kits.
What was the intake on your car gummed up with? Actually where was it gummed?
This stuttering issue is bizarre. It works well floored when the kick down shifts the trans down and once it goes to shift up into a higher gear it starts stuttering. You can hold the pedal steady and will continue to gurgle and then die. If you let out of it and push the pedal back a little for normal drive it is fine.
I hope that makes sense. It is tough to describe

i mean you have a 2.8 and mines a 305 but mines was had just gunk buildup around between the carb and intake mani, and it has some laying in the ports too. im pretty sure the gas in the car turned bad too and it wasnt stored properly so that had some effect on what the gunk was as well. stuttering issue how? like its getting too much gas or something. that was taken care of when my carb rebuild happened91 Trans am, 305, Lt1 cam, 24lb injectors, headers, SLP LM2, SW chassis, massive panhard, lowered, modded TPI, Tuned, 4.10s, Lincoln locked

Yup. Stuttering from a fuel issue. Too much fuel rushing in at a low rpm. That's what I believe. But with all of this crap attached to the top of the motor I don't there are hoses and other crazy little pieces coming and going I don't know if that stuff could be the culprit. I prefer a carb sitting on top of an intake with nothing but a couple of vacuum lines, fuel line, and some linkage attached to it. This thing looks like a nightmare to get off there. The amazing thing..... All that damn work for a 2.8 liter v6. Oh well I got something to wrench on.

I pulled the fuel filter out of the back of that beastly carb and it was broken and destroyed. I have to yank that thing off the motor and freshen it up. I bought a rebuild kit. It is funny that I would spend the time rebuilding that thing but the little carb and the 2.8 deserve some respect. The car drives great, looks great and I could probably drive the hell out of it for 2 weeks as a daily commuter and spend $20. So while the motor lasts, it will stay. Come next spring (which is probably when I will start driving it again) I might feel different about it.

Very nice looking car. I'm sure you might think of installing an engine a bit bigger in the summer, but you can't complain with the excellent gas mileage. With gas in the low to mid three dollar range, I think many car owners would be glad to pick your car over theirs any day of the week. Again, great looking car. I can't believe you found it for so cheap. Nice job hunting.
