just keep in mind the tach on all 3rd gens is not 100% accurate, but wouldnt hurt to double check it, you can adjust and set the AIC which is located below the throttle bottle

I would start looking for a vacuem leak first then if you find nothing the ajustment is on the drivers side were the throttle cable meets the throttle body there is a hole from the back side should be a torx or alen bit but check for a leak first . I don't think your jerking is from your high idle sounds like it could be a slight misfire dering the shift .

If it was the iac it would Probly have a pulsating idle up down . But in sum case it can just idle a bit high.

when I sold the car, it didnt have a vacum leak, but def check for one since its been sitting, my brothers car does the same thing and we havent figured it out, TPS has been replaced, I just picked up a AIC so when we get some exact time thats the next thing getting replaced.

You can go through and adjust the min air on the IAC. After that, check for vacuum leaks. If you still don't find an answer, you can try backing out the throttle stop a few turns.

bucket of water dumped on the engine. Make sure you don't get any in the intake or on the alternator. Preferably done when the engine is cold. If your idle drops then you have a vacuum leak.

                            How are your u-joints?

I know the trans has a shift kit in it, but I never thought about the u-joints
