Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Looking good! How did you restore those rims? My original rims are stained & I can't seem to get the stains off
Thanks! Here is the process (*Note- this is VERY time-consuming....to the tune of at least 4 hours per wheel):
1) Grind off the factory clearcoat with an orbital sander and 80 or 120 grit
2) Sand with 220 and then 320 grit dry until you have a smooth non-swirled surface (use a back-and-forth motion and stick to one direction when sanding)
3) Wet sand to remove all scratches from the previous grit using 400, 800, 1000, 1500, and finally 2000 grit (work your way up through these grits until you get a very shiny, smooth surface)
4) Buff entire wheels with rubbing compound (I prefer 3M Perfect It II rubbing compound) and then polish with your favorite aluminum polish. I have not done the final polish but I plan to use the rubbing compound again on the painted (gray) center parts of the rim and then use aluminum polish on an orbital buffer to hit the flat polished bare aluminum spokes and rim.
Because these are bare metal aluminum they will require periodic upkeep such as aluminum polish when needed.
I hope this helps.

Well, the stock system is quite restrictive. From what research I have done the verdict is still out on whether or not a stock system or open-air element is better. You certainly do not harm the engine by giving it a lot more air, even if that air is warm. Every little wrinkle in the stock snorkle slows down the air velocity tremendously and really, only the very edge of the filter where the snorkle comes in is where the vast majority of the airflow/filtering takes place. Getting rid of these restrictions can be beneficial, plus it just looks a lot better!
