  • Keeping a Iroc's Rear end cool

So its that time of the year again, time to dust the snow off the Lemon's 1985 Iroc-z and get it ready for the Gingerman race in April.

Last year we chunked up our posi rear end quite a bit and probably next weekend we will be pulling the axles and replacing out as much as we can on the old rear end.

I'm trying to think of a way to keep the rear end cooler. Maybe fins on the cover? Air ducting? Speeds exceed 100 mph so I want to do whatever I can to get the rear end temps down. There was another Fbody at the race that was draining scalding hot metal halfway through the race.

    Any ideas?

Maybe one of those girdles will work well as a heat extractor?

      Here's an article I found: http://www.circletrack.com/techartic...ool/index.html

Use a pinion driven pump to run it through a cooler.

I think a aluminum cover is a no brainer. We could duct some air down there too. Maybe run full synthetic?

you could build one of these for your car pretty easily, the only mysterious part is the fluid pump.
