  • How about some 305 Love?

This kind of stuff always catches my attention. Obviously this path to building a motor is not for everyone but for those stubborn few who want to tred a different path here you go...

Popular Hot Rodding gets 370 HP out of a 305 with EQ heads and a cam...

Ive never got to feel what a 305 can do. Cool to see someone still playing with the underdog.

Sweet! We are currently doing just about the same thing with my old 305 out of my old 85 TA. Glad to see some numbers that its possible of making before we just go ahead and put it in a car.

When my son got his 1979 Camaro it had a 130hp 305 that was rated at the engine. We did a mild build and got it to make 225 RWHP and almost 300 RW ft lbs torque. They can be built.

I love my 305 with my cam and intake swap.
You would never know it was a 305 if I didn't tell you or you looked on the back of the motor.

But I'd say the same thing if I had a built 350 in my car lol! IT'S ONLY A 305!
                haha!!

I have always toyed with building a 305 just with basic things... Maybe I will hold onto my boat anchor if I ever do the engine swap in my car just in case I get bored...

my buddy just ran a 14 flat with basically a stock 305 tpi with a cold air intake headers and full exhaust. That's with no cam or head work. I thought that was pretty good considering what they were rated for.

That's unbelievable, I ran a 14.6 with all my mods.
Cam, Edelbrock intake and runners, ported plunem, 24# injectors, Headers, full exhaust, SLP air intake set up, plus a 3.73 gear in the rear end. a/c deleted, Plus I had it on the dyno and tuned.

Did he have a little go go juice?
Bryan my bro in law had a 89 GTA with the 5.7L TPI and 40,000 mile car. ALL STOCK besides headers and an air intake. He put a 150 shot of laughing gas on it and ran a 13.6.

....weird he ran a 14 flat.

Did you witness this? I'm calling BS. I had a pretty bltching little 305 at one point and it wouldn't muster a 14 flat. That was with Vette L98 alum heads custom cam full length headers blad blah blah. They are lame motors period.
