well i got it back from macco today. im really pissed. under the bumpers and and turn signal area's didnt get painted. theres over spray in the inner wheel wells. idk how but they got alot of over spray in the trunk. its on my rubber seals the shocks, even some trim peices. i found a dent in the passanger door under the glue. taht they didnt fix and just painted over it. theres a couple little cracks and pin holes in the front bumper but im not to worried about that. over all it looks good but if you really look. you can nit pick the shit out of it. so im taking it back tomorrow to show them whats wrong.

ill get pics maybe tomorrow. i gotta work all day so ill see how i feel when i get home. but i did practice more with the stick. and its fun as hell. but im being abusive and im gonna stop. dont wanna blow the T5 up. lol

I used to work at a Maaco and they will paint over any defect unless you pay them to fix it. This is why I mentioned doing the prep work yourself that way all the problem areas would have been addressed before they got it.
This is where the old saying of "you get what you pay for" is totally true.

Nice buy. Kinda reminds me of when I bought my 1986 last summer, but I sold it this spring and got a 4th gen But even if you do all the prep work yourself won't they still overspray everything?

well there fixing the dent, blackening my wheel wells, respraying my bumpers, and fixing a little surface rust they didnt fix. for 70$. so in total i payed 550$ for the paint job. it does look good though. no fish eye or nothing. i took it back up there yesterday and they fixed all the over spray in my trunk. i gotta take the car back up there in 2 weeks to get the stuff metioned above done. then im getting the decals put on.

im having alot of fun with the stick shift. but on the way home today first kept grinding everytime i tried to put it in and then it would pop in. when i got home i noticed the floor mat was jammed under neath the clutch. so i moved it and drove it around and it doesnt grind anymore. so im hoping that was the problem.

were is the filler for the trans on this car. i wanna check it. and ive never owned a manual so idk where it is. thanks

pics up when theres a nice day out and i can wash it.

There should be two plugs on either side of your trans. but I'm not sure if it's so similar to the T-56. Though they're made by the same company. You really can't check the fluid without changing it unless you've got a transfer pump...in which case you pump a little out of the fill hole to look at it. If it's a little hard to shift I'd change it out with synthetic. Pretty sure you use ATF though. I know that the synthetic definitely made mine shift smoother.

The plugs are on the passenger side. If I remember correctly, you fill it to the bottom of the top hole when the plug is out but that means you need to have the car level when filling. I used a metal oil squirt can with a 4 inch flexible metal end. I am not sure how else one would get transmission fluid into the side of the T5. You cannot pour sideways into the hole. You remove the plugs with a 3/8 inch socket wrench--no socket required. It would be easier to pump a little out of the hole but I did manage to loosen the bottom one plug enough to let a little fluid out without dumping too much out. I did this just to make sure it was not dry after sitting in my garage for years. I have had a leak at the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) ever since my 1990 Formula was still under warranty. I took it in for warranty service and the service department claimed they replaced the sensor but it still leaked. Anyone have a solution?
