  • Where is temp sensor??

My temp gage quit working on my 89 GTA. I looked in the manual to locate the temp sensor to see if a wire is loose. It says look for the temp sensor on the front of the left cyl head. I looked there, and don't see it. Any body else know where it may be..? I don't trust this Haynie book to much...it gave me incorrect info for a steering column issue. Thanks in advance.

on my LT1 it is in the side of the head. look in the area of the exhaust ports.

My TPI had it right around there.

Should be between cylinders 1 and 3, if I recall...

Are you talking about the coolant temp sensor (CTS)?

Your car from the factory will have a single green wire running to the sensor in the driver's side cylinder head....this is for the guage on the IP. The ECM uses a different sensor FYI.

I am looking for a loose wire that would effect the gage. Thanks for the help.

I was underneath the car Saturday doing an oil change. From below the sensor and wire a easy to see. Couldn't see zip form above. Snapped the connector on, and gage works fine. Thanks for the help. Yes it was on srivers side between 1 and 3.
