Yea you may want to ditch them heads. Ive seen people retro fit lt1 heads to sbc's to. You just have to block off some coolent passages. Im shure you could get some used ones cheap.

Before you turn one bolt I would develope a solid plan first. Let us help...just tell us how much you want to spend and if you want to stay with fuel injection of not.....which I would recommend.Originally posted by 86Camaro View Postmy heads may be off of the original 305

Well said! you need to first decide exactly what you want out of the car. mismatched parts will make it run like shit. Better heads, cam change, better induction(Weather it be carb, or fuel injection) and a better exh. system will wake it up nice.Originally posted by WMCCjames View PostBefore you turn one bolt I would develope a solid plan first. As for an aftermarket intake, I would go with the Holley Stealth Ram. You can get one off of chevythunder for around $600-$700. The engine will breath way better at high rpm.

want to do something..
I didnt find the HSR on chevythunder.com's website, and im guess it comes with a bigger throttle body for that price?
So I've been thinking.. Are those 383 stroker kits from 500-600 bucks with the crank and pistons ready to be put directly into your motor? Cam it, Put the Holley Stealth Ram on top and be looking at roughly 1500 bucks?, but thats not an issue so, shoot it doesnt need to be finished this winter, maybe start mild motor build with the right parts. What do you think? I need some input, and if anyone wants to gimme a hand this weekend, i got it all open for once
Thanks

I don't know what kind of stroker kits your looking at but an EAGLE forged crank is $600 alone. To get something good like a Callies rotating assembly, or even an Eagle, you're looking at $2,000+.2015 Silverado

If your going to give the motor much abuse, or anything over a 100 shot. You need to stay away from some of those cheap cast stroker kits. Did you find out what your running for heads? Or what you want to run? Personally, I would put the money into a good set of heads first. Also, whats your goal for the motor? How much streetability do you want, horsepower, gas mileage, and durability. Once you/we know what your expecting, and what your willing to give up to get certain aspects of drivebility or performance. That's what should determine where you should be putting your money.

With that et. and mph, it sounds like the motor is really choked. If you are running 305 heads, thats the biggest problem. I would suggest something like this. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
That cam should help wake it up. What size exhaust pipe do you have? Also, what was your 60ft. time? And did you have any wheel spin?

Thanks for the input Tony. I have Hooker SuperComp Shorties into 3in to the back no cats with 80 series flowmaster dual 2.5 pipes out one side.
Those heads are in the right price range, gives me some money to work with in other areas.
60 ft times 1/8 ET 1/4 ET 1/4 MPH
2.091 9.548 14.799 83.89
2.099 9.540 14.803 83.08
2.107 9.518 14.680 95.27
2.133 9.604 14.813 94.57
About Half of my runs were around 83 mph and the other half were around 94mph..I remember working the converter a little bit on some runs maybe 1500-2k. Don't know what exactly that did for me.
I think i had a little wheel spin off the line, but not too much.
Edit: also is that 500 for one head?(not that it matters) Is that how they are normally priced, singly?Last edited by jakes_GSXR; November 6th, 2008, 09:19 PM.
