  • oh no..

turns out my mech hasnt been paying his rental on his garage... so the guy who owns it... who i know... changed the locks on him today... i talked to him and he said i could take all my stuff monday but this is gonna put a damper on getting my motor finnished and my mech will owe me a little bit of money for the heads he still hasnt reworked... but i made some new friends this weekend... nice friends...lol they have a 84 cutlass putting 610hp to the ground on a 355 flat tappet motor... so they said they would help me finnish my block and get a nice custom made sub frame connector for it too, the guys a welder and master mechanic...just hang out and bring some beers... and they have a lift and everything i need to finnish being i dont have a garage to do any of this in.. and the wife isnt cool with a sbc coffe table...lol... now if my mech cant get me my money back for the heads, im gonna see if he will just give me his heads straight up that he already reworked... which would be nice quicker getting this thing together... i hope it all works out i want back on the road soon...

Damn when I priced out having my block bored, honed, hot tanked, magnafluxed, cam bearings, freeze plugs and stroker clearanced it was about $650.

well i can get it hot tanked for free but i can do the cam bearings, freeze plugs, and hone it myself... they arnt bad around here for boring usualyl around 15-25 bucks per cylinder at worst... and they have a jig to notch the block at most shops here so tack another 50 bucks onto that...

It might also be that I was calling about getting a ford 302 stroked to 347.. probably more meat has to come out of the block on that one?

            Who knows.

i think its about the same to cut out ... the jigs for a 383 are only like 200 bucks and you pretty much put it where the crank goes spin it around a few times with the dremil mounted to it and your done... i would have bought one but i really dont plan on mass producing stroker motors...

alright got all my stuff back and its headed to my buddys barn tomorrow... i am going with the 4 bolt because some how there got a nice gouge in one of my cylinder walls... not huge but enough where i would need to bore it over atleast and it was already at 30 over and i have 3 sets if new 30 over pistons to choose from so that does me no good to bore it more... so the 4 bolt block is going in hopefully get them started on it tomorrow...
right now im still trying to get ahold of my mech to see what he is going to do about the money he owes me... i might just take his datsun from him although that needs a full one over as well... but atleast the heads of of them.

ya i dont know what his problem is he just got divorced... never shows up to work now.. always at the bar... and its not like his wife left him he left her for some younger chick and is just slacking on everything now. ill get it all straight im not worried i just hope i have it done it time.. the whole reason i was having him do it in the first place was because of my schedual... i would have done it all myself but working midnights then watching my son all day i dont have time to mess around till afternoon by witch i need to sleep atleast a little bit.. and like i said if i could have gotten away with a sbc coffe table ... i would and it would probably be done already...lol

some bad new is that i didnt know i have to clearnce my rods for a cam larger than .500 lift aparently anythign bigget than that and the top of the rod bolts will acctually hit the cam and wipe it out after a few revs.. so im going to have to be carful and try to do that myself at work... but ive got plenty of grinders and cnc machines im sure the mindnight guy will do them for me... i only have 2 shots with it though my stock rods and my new ones...so dont want to screw this up.

got ahold of my mech and once the block gets back he is putting my short block together and port polishing and studding my heads for the money he owes me... he now works for the guy he was renting his shop from so i tracked him down.. and i found a set of pre notched rods for the over 500 lift for a deal so im not going to attempt that now.
