No, my mechanic said there's one somewhere.

This isn't related to the track, it's related to high idle.

Idle for a Auto TPI is supposed to be set at 650. The lowest it ever gets, in drive (which is always lower) is around 800. I have the idle screw all the way back, to the point of where there's space between the throttle body and the screw itself.

And yes, I can get a manual online. Does that help me with the tach check?

is your factory tach saying its idleing there or is the pcm saying you are idleing there? if you hook a GOOD scanner up to it you can see what the pcm is seeing for idle. in most f-bodys the tach reads higher than it is

exactly those things can be way off

what i was going to suggest is hook up a aftermarket tach, you can get a cheap one at vatozone

I had the same problem with my stock tach before I went aftermarket. It read 15-20% higher than my laptop and engine analyzer read. It was cool though - when I wound it out to 5000+ rpms the tach would peg at 7000!!8-O

Sounds weird that your throttle is completely off the set screw. It would be interesting to see where you IAC is at. It could be stuck open and causing the high idle similar to a vacuume leak.

Or maybe you have the same issue I do (or you did).

When the trans shifts, the tach says it's out at 7k RPM. With what you experienced, it's likely mine is shifting at 5k, and the tach is off.

Maybe I don't have a vacuum leak at all.

I'll call my mechanic and see if he has a tach laying around that I can check with.

if your mechanic has a scanner (not a code puller) he can see what the real idle is

i was thinking about this too, if that screw is backed all the way out some cars dont even idle/start so his iac may be thrown off

Yeah, the throttle blades won't even go back any further.

some cars i worked on were required to be opened so little that you can slip a piece of thin paper under the blade

pull your iac check it for carbon build up as well
