i believe the problem lies in the starter some how because if you turn the key the stud that you put the positive battery cable and ignition cable sparkes when you turn the key and the nut is really tight so it has a good connection

change the starter or try loosing the starter nut and moving the wire it may be touching metal somwere and you not see it.

just take off each wire marking them by where they connect to, then once you have the wires off inspect them for cracks or exposed wiring. Like everyone said it sounds like you have a power wire touching bare metal which kind of completes a circuit with your ground wires except the wires just get very hot because of resistance. If i were you i would get an amplifier kit and rewire your main grounds and power wires. Wouldn't be hard and you would probally see some better voltage.

well i changed the starter back to the starter that came with the engine and i put the same flexplate on that came with the engine and started the car it started up but it ground the teeth off the starter to. i dont think it fixed the wiring problem but i dont know and i wont know until i find a new starter.
