  • 355 For The Bird

Well I got the Sludgehammer all torn down and cleaned. Gonna make her a 355. I took it to a shop today to get dipped, bored, ...the usual. Should get it back sometime next week. I also ordered a Federal Mogul engine rebuild kit, that has hyperneutic flat top pistons. A Summit double roller timing chain. And an Edelbrock Performer Plus cam/lifter kit (which I know is kind of mellow). I'll get some pics of this stuff and my progress on the car later.

Got the stuff yesterday. It felt like christmas coming home after work and going through the box. Block should be done sometime this week, then I can work on putting the engine together and getting her back in.

...and 2 months later she's almost ready to go back in. Alot of stuff has popped up in those 2 months, and I've decided to do more stuff to it. The whole "I might as well do it now, since it'll be cheaper and easier in the long run" came into play alot. At the moment the whole rotating assembly is in, and the heads are on. Cam is ready to go in, and then everything else is ready to get bolted on. Here's some mock up pics of the top end. Gonna get some pics of the block later maybe.

Real men know that real cars use carbs .

                          Looks sweet.

I'm guessing that the low profile air cleaner indicates that you'll be going with the stock hood?

Yep. I just hope it will fit underneath. If theres room I'll go with a 3" element.
