They are the minority...you can probably count them on your fingers and toes, and have digits left over...

              Yes, yes we are........

I'd decode the vin, because like previously said appearance wise, its not a Z, in fact if I had to guess I'd say that horn button isn't the original, somebody took it off a Z and put it on that car. Reason I say that is its a different color, mine matches, I think they all matched the steering wheel and dash color.

However, you don't have to decode it right away, just being a fairly solid car that runs is worth what he's asking probably. a base V8 car like that with a good engine swap would make a kick ass sleeper. Or you could do like every other tom dick and harry and make it a Z28 clone. But even if you decided you didn't want to keep it, you could probably part it out and easily make back what you have into it.

If I ever got my uncle's '81, it would receive a new engine...305 (Cali-flavor), but it does have a 4-speed...
Just be careful not to add to much power to that 4-speed, its probably the saginaw and they won't take much abuse, I know from experience

No, I would swap it out for a 6 speed or what not.

Who knows if I'll ever get the car. He was going to let me have it, when I was looking for my first car. Would've been nice had my mom told me that...

I've always pondered about having two Camaros...

Along with what everyone else said.
I would pop the back seat out before I bought it also.
Take the bottoms right out, of have the guys whos selling it take them out for you.
They like to rot in those corners also.
$1000.00 is $1000.00 If you have to put 5k into it to make it nice. It might be worth looking at a different car.

You may also want to check the front floor boards as they curve into the firewall. They like to rust out there also. I agree with the other guys. I know my '79 has the vents on the fenders and all ground effects on it. I'd like to call it a Z but I took the hood off for a 4 in. Harwood cowl and put a '71 4 bolt 355 under it. Granted I won't be selling mine that cheap in the spring, but if it's a solid chassis, it could always be a clone. $1000 or less is a good deal and a tune up would be WAY easier than with a 4th gen.

Went and looked the car over alot better. Would be a nice car to just mess around with but I may have found a better deal...on a 2nd gen.

                        Anyways the vin is 1P87KAN50679

If anyone could decode that I would love to know what the car came with.

                        Here is an engine pic:
