185cc runner should work well with a small cam/small displacement too.

I would also check the combustion chamber size. Been forever since i looked into these but might worth having them shaved down for some extra pop like stock heads. LT1s can handle high compression w reverse cooled heads so might as well take advantage of it!

Are these the ones you're talking about?

EDIT: would those springs be suitable for the 1.6rr's I have?

Interesting they dont say what type of springs they are but i would doubt you would be exceeding .6 lift...but definitely calculate it to be sure.

If you want to change springs for peace of mind i have pac 1218s theyve been great. Recommended by AI.

Jim, do you recall what kind of springs you had on the heads I have? Maybe I could just reuse those...

Otherwise I'll call Summit and see if they can tell me more about the springs.

So I just noticed on the Summit page it says, "Quantity: Sold Individually." Does that mean it's $850 per head?

Woa... It shouldnt be. If so those have gone WAY up in price.

I think they're the Comp 918's. That said, they were on the heads when I bought them. I would have them tested before re-using.

Are you sure you're not thinking of the bare heads? I seem to recall people saying that these heads as-cast assembled were priced comparable to a good set of heads from AI/LE.

After further review, the given prices are indeed the price per head. See here:

                            http://www.summitracing.com/parts/af...make/chevrolet

it says "Quantity: Sold as pair"

dang....that's really a lot more than I can dish out at this point. The $800-$900 price range sounded good to me, but closer to $2k? no can do

Bummer did you call and confirm that?

Thats bad news for me too. my plan was to get a set of these and have AI work them but thats just not even close to worth it at that price.
