hello im new to mi. and im a proud owner of a 1999 TA for a week now.
can I remove my cats to get the sound I want, and should I remove them?
its bone stock for now, I want that growl.....
I heard that we don't need cats in mi,
I done this before and I couldn't stand it. I actually ended up putting the cats back on. If you really want an aggressive growl you should save your pennies and buy long tube headers and a off road y-pipe and you won't regret it. Long tube headers really helps. If you don't want to do that the LM1exhaust system sounds great.

But yes cats do not belong on these cars..take off, call it a dirty name and throw them as far as you can...actually go pick then back up and scrap them for some $$$
Remove it sure. Avoid hollowing out the stock cats. You'll get some horrible resonance from the turbulence and volume change.
Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere.

I think your the only one bothered by rasp Rolo. With any exhaust set up you will always have exhaust rasp. Either way long tube headers with no cats sounds amazing. I would recommend doing that over just cutting off the cats.

I'm also lowered but with 2.5 duals. Zero ground clearance lost.
Shawn there is a fine line with rasp and no rasp. Damn near every ORY set up will rasp with no cats. There is no way on hiding it unless you keep it under a certain RPM. Leave cats on and the rasp reduces greatly. There is nothing amazing about the sound of dkfiwkrnfosnwntifn bouncing in the RPM range haha.
If you do however remove the cats, be prepared to wear the new men's fragrance called !CATs. It's very manly
