No there not getting wet.Its a stock cam.The optis just fail they dont leave no marks.I shouldnt have said eating them up.But its going threw them. The first one just went down as my wife was coming home from work. Then the next one it started to miss a little bit then in a couple days it was down.It was missing bad.So I put this new one on and its not missing or nothing. But the service engine light comes on after it warms up.When you put it on a code reader it comes up code 16.Code 16 is the opti or harness is what I was told.I change the harness when I change the optis.I dont know whats wrong!

the opti is what is wrong all kidding aside, code 16 is a optical failure....failed optispark. Check for continuity from optispark to computer if good more then likely a failed optispark. Also check your engine to body grounds those could be weak or corroded.

edit: check for voltage at the ecm too

mM.S.D. is also a good option, pricey but good.

MSD is hit or miss. I personally would never use an MSD product.

Perhaps in the past, reviews are good on the redesigned units. Havent heard of any bad ones yet. You bet I'm watching for it too.

I burned through 3 optis in two months. I put a Delphi in, not a problem since

Are you putting loc-tite on the rotor screws before installing these optis? Also, improper spark plug gap or a shorted spark plug wire can cause premature wear on the opti, so I'd make sure and check everything in the ignition system, wouldn't want to replace another opti and have it go out because of an oversight.
