The spider gears in my Jimmy blew apart at speed, pretty violent jolt and a ton of noise.
My Saturn SC2 literally blew the diff and the spider gears out of the car. The force behind that one lifted the front end of the car off the road, stalled the engine, and filled the cabin with smoke. My first thought was the airbags deployed for no reason.
Time to dig in!

IMHO it should have been a free fix since they ****ed up the ujoint. Really pisses me off that I paid to have a shop do it so I would know it's done right and a little over a month later and ~300 miles the cap comes off.
To add to the anger, they're now saying the aluminum driveshaft is junk. Where the cap goes is egged and no good.
So back to the steel driveshaft I go. He atleast agreed to warranty BOTH of my u-joints so I would have new u-joints in the steel driveshaft, but I have to pay the $50 labor. I guess it's better than taking the driveshaft somewhere else and paying $100 for new ujoints.
What a mess. Aluminum DS - $50, new ujoints to "do it right" - $100, tow home - $120, labor to switch back to the steel driveshaft - $50... $320 lesson...- Brian Meissen

Sounds expensive for u-joints. When I got my aluminum shaft I got two new joints put on for $50 including laborWhen in doubt, Whip it out !

Can I definitively say that the ujoint cap falling off after only a month and ~200 miles is their fault? The more I think about it the more I think I should be demanding a free fix considering I'm eating the $120 tow bill...- Brian Meissen
